Job Description

The Operations Development Team is coordinating the engineering and automation activities in the fulfillment network all over Europe. The FCs are run by Logistics Service Providers (LSPs). This corporate function takes over (re) engineering and quality improvement projects for multiple FCs/LSPs. Representing zooplus in the collaboration with the LSPs and bringing expertise on zooplus requirements with a brought engineering as well as lean background will ensure the success of initiatives.

Your Tasks:

  • Planning, conception and leading implementation of innovative and suistanaible logistics processes
  • Review, optimization and standardization of operational warehouse processes, work processes and workplaces
  • Contribute to and validate layouts of capacity increasing and automation projects
  • Support of the operational specialist departments (e.g. it development & tools, supply chain management, operational excellence, master data, inventory & inbound, last mile & delivery experience, operations research etc.)
  • Participation in cross-network projects (working with FC Managers, LSPs, DSPs, suppliers also all over our network etc.)
  • Identifying of best practice approaches in order to optimize costs, service and quality
  • Supporting data-driven decision making with data collection, analysis, and evaluation
  • Preparing complete business cases including correct cost models and P & L analyzes
  • Help to drive the strategic development of the Engineering Team
  • Screening the market for new technological developments and market trends and competitor initiatives
  • Developing testing and implementation plans for new technologies
  • Defining testing and acceptance test criteria refelecting expectations together with suppliers and LSPs
  • Support in installation, commissioning, integration, testing and ramp-up of new equipment in the warehouses
  • Guide Lean improvement projects and coach the improvement teams
  • Prepare and negotiate framework contracts including rates and service levels with suppliers
  • Handle escalations for your stakeholders within Operations\
  • Coordination of purchasing activities and resource allocation within the department.

Qualifications

  • Finished Bachelor or Master's degree (HTS/HBO) in the field of technical logistics or industrial engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of sound working experience in a comparable position in engineering consulting, intra logistics supplier or LSP engineering departments
  • Experience from leading multiple complex role related projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of distribution and intra logistics, preferably in a retail / e-commerce or mechanical environment
  • Sound understanding of e-commerce fulfillment processes and technical requirements
  • Experience in the conception and implementation of logistics processes (e.g. inbound, put away, picking, packing, loading, shipping, returns, relocations, time sudies etc.)
  • You have numerical view, you are analytically set and cost conscious
  • Excellent communication skills and a high customer orientation
  • Experience in common methods of project management (e.g. project plans, timelines, LOPs etc.) as well as lean management
  • Analytical skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel (minimal 30%)
