Team Summary:

Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa's clients, including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants.  Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, brand management, marketing, operations and macroeconomics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.

The VCA team within Japan provides a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients in Japan, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management and digital strategy.

VCA Managed Services members play a key role in enhancing the partnership with one of Visa Japan’s largest clients by supporting strategic planning and implementation of their most strategic initiatives.


What the Senior Manager at Visa Managed Services Acquiring team does at Visa

We are currently looking for a senior manager to lead consulting engagements for our clients in Japan, supporting strategy and new business development in acquiring and merchant business.

 

The senior manager will lead engagements and act as the main focal point, coordinating between the client team, junior team members, other internal local, global stakeholders, and outsourcing partners (as applicable). The senior manager will be responsible for managing various initiatives between Visa and the client. The senior manager will be responsible for scoping, proposing, contracting, and delivering projects, and managing team members’ performance and delivery quality.

This position will report into VCA ACQ team director and interact with a cross-functional teams in a Global environment. Key stakeholders include Account Relationship Managers, Sales, Product Managers, Product Development, Marketing, and Customer Service, Client Project Lead. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with leadership and management qualities that can work independently in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision.  He or she must be a fast learner who can quickly absorb the nuances of complex, varied payment offerings. 

This role is heavily client focused and will require a consulting approach and strong client engagement skills in order to manage key Acquirers with industry best practices.  The full range of responsibilities is detailed below

 

Responsibilities

  • Drive initiative development to support the client’s acquiring business growth using strategic consulting methodologies (setting key questions and hypotheses with deep quantitative analyses, and synthesizing recommendations) and aligning with internal stakeholders. Example areas of support include

    • New business development / business strategy

    • Merchant acquisition strategy/ acquirer pricing strategy

    • New product / business / customer journey design

    • System PMO (From business requirements definition to implementation support) for cross-regional teams operating in both English and Japanese

    • Go to market strategy design

  • Drive high quality the delivery fully leveraging both strategic consulting and IT consulting PMO skills while managing team members and various subject matter experts, including data scientists, product specialists, client services representatives both in Japan and in overseas offices.

  • Manage the client relationships with both GMs and key frontline members to deepen the partnership.

  • Coach team members, contributing to their growth and career development while ensuring quality of project deliverables

  • Develop a fact base of the client processes, assets, and organization to determine future opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

  • Create, develop and maintain analytical models and methodologies to contribute to standardized VCA offerings and IP creation

  • Continuously build knowledge, surface new insights and produce thought leadership pieces that contribute to practice development and global best practices

  • Oversee and manage administrative tasks and project setup including contracting documentation, internal reporting, and completion of compliance procedures.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for individuals with strong project management experience along with deep consulting and payment expertise to provide best-in-class experience for both internal and external partners to deliver full potential results and push the limits of cashless Japan together.

Basic Qualifications
• Deep experience and a track record of high performance in strategy and IT consulting, or project management(+ 8 years )
• Strong organizational skills and ability to navigate through ambiguity by adequately assessing tradeoff/impact analysis. Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, assignments, and roles.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently while coordinating activities with cross-divisional teams.
• Team player, able to communicate with technical and business experts at all levels of the organization.
• Solid analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills. Ability to think and communicate strategically.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in both Japanese and English

Qualifications – Preferred
• Experience in a professional services / consulting role is highly desirable. Strong customer service skills are required
• Experience in payments, the banking industry, or technology. Deep understanding of the acquiring business is a big plus
• Extensive understanding of project management techniques, methodologies and best practices.
• Experience in Agile environment is preferred.
• Excellent Microsoft Project and presentation skills.
• Travel is required. Approximately 10%.
