The Accounts Payable and Real Estate Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the people, processes, and systems that drive timely and accurate payments, maintain financial integrity, and ensure compliance across multiple entities. This is a hands-on leadership position that will have an integral role as we transition to a new ERP and streamline collaboration with teams.

This position will lead the accounts payable operations and help scale the team during growth and transformation. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains leased and fixed assets and depreciation schedules across entities, compliance with all sales and tax laws, and adherence to organizational accounts payable policies and procedures.


 

Requirements

Directly supervises one or more employees. Responsible for hiring, planning, monitoring and taking corrective action when necessary, including termination. Addresses concerns with staff to ensure a positive work environment. Works closely with Director on personnel issues, escalating as appropriate.


· Lead the accounts payable function, supervising the AP Lead and AP Clerk

· Manage end-to-end payables, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance

· Oversee administration of corporate card portal and expense reimbursements 

· Ensure timely payment of debt and reconciliation to amortization schedules

· Reconcile accounts payable-related general ledger accounts

· Own intercompany transactions, rent invoicing, and CAM reconciliations across entities

· Maintain leased asset, fixed asset, and depreciation schedules across entities

· Prepare and file sales & use tax and personal property tax returns

· Prepare, file, and distribute Form 1099

· Manage month end close for real estate entities and holding company, supporting analysis

· Manage stale check escheatment process

· Develop and implement policies and procedures that create clarity, efficiency, and accountability

· Collaborate cross-functionally with Directors, Procurement, and other departments

· Support audit requests and the financial reporting process

· Support tax return preparation for real estate entities and holding company

· Contribute to cash flow forecasting and help manage payment timing strategies

· Play a key role in our ERP transition and AP automation projects

· Other duties as assigned


Education:


· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or related field.

· CPA preferred but not required

· Minimum 8+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a management role

· A combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge will be qualifying.  

· Strong knowledge of AP best practices, internal controls, and tax compliance

· Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/AP systems

· Proactive, resilient, and empathetic leadership style

· Ability to lead through change and build processes from the ground up

· Strong sense of integrity, curiosity, and collaboration

· The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and should do so in a sound and safe manner. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
