National Able Network, a dynamic and growing nonprofit agency specializing in the delivery of innovative employment and training programs, has an exciting opportunity for a service-oriented professional as a Temporary Accounting Intern.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with processing accounts payable and receivable.
- Assists with month end close process, review and post accounting entries for depreciation expense, asset transfers, additions and asset retirements.
- Performs various bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Performs various asset and liability reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Reviews check requests for completeness and consistency.
- Enters and assists with weekly cash disbursements run.
- Enters new vendor information as needed.
- Assists with month end close process, review and post accounting entries for depreciation expense, asset transfers, additions and asset retirements.
- Produces supporting schedules for the monthly fixed asset roll-forward and analysis to detail and explain variances.
- Performs account reconciliation within the fixed asset area, including the investigation and resolution of discrepancies as well as supporting the monthly and year-end closing process.
- Prepares Daily Cash deposit.
- Evaluates current policies and procedures.
- Works closely with other accounting staff to assist with early identification of potential cost overruns and unbudgeted expenses.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and be able to communicate effectively.
- Must be computer literate and highly proficient in use of computerized Excel spreadsheets and Outlook.
- Outstanding organizational skills, high attention to detail; self starter with consistent, reliable follow-through.
- Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, work under pressure when necessary and meet established deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work on computer for extended periods of time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidate, majoring in finance or accounting.
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable preferred.
