The Everybody Votes Campaign, established in 2015, is a national coordinating body focused on narrowing the voter registration gap in communities of color. We are committed to creating a more representative democracy by building and supporting large scale, long term voter registration in communities of color. We partner with local organizations to support accessible, successful, and high quality voter registration programs that expand access to our democracy for people in communities of color.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The campaign seeks an experienced and dedicated individual to fill the role of Analytics Engineer, working under the Director of Data Products. This role involves maintaining and improving our voter registration data model and data transformation processes while working closely with engineers, analysts, project managers, and field practitioners to develop and enhance reporting dashboards and pipeline solutions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO IN YOUR ROLE
Maintain and Improve EVC Data Model
- Support architecting and documenting the design of our centralized data model that enables analytics and reporting across all EVC program data
- Own the transform processes that synthesize raw data into actionable and useful reporting tables using SQL and DBT
- Integrate internally-generated metadata and external attributes into data pipelines
Align with Best Practices
- Support with setting best practices for data standardization and ensuring data quality and integrity
- Participate in maintaining a well-documented, consistent codebase
Participate in a Positive Team Culture
- Work as a team: pair-program, review code, co-design and plan, develop a shared vision for and an understanding of the work, document progress in JIRA, Confluence, Github, and Monday
- Participate in conversations with internal and external stakeholders to identify pain points and implement solutions that improve transformation processes and data product offerings

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency and experience using SQL to transform and analyze messy data, experience working with relational databases (in particular, Redshift and PostgreSQL)
- Experience designing, developing, or enhancing a centralized data model
- Experience writing and editing clear, clean code and a willingness to use version control systems like git and Github
- Interest in being a member of a diverse, multidisciplinary team that communicates technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Helpful but not required
- Experience using DBT
- Proficiency in Python, or some experience with a willingness to learn
- Experience using version control software (Github, Gitlab, etc.)
- Previous experience working in the field of voter registration or voting rights
Performance Metrics & Review Schedule
Your first review will be 90 days after your start date, then a six-month check-in and a development review annually for the duration of your employment. If the results of a reviews are unsatisfactory, more frequent reviews may be scheduled to monitor improvements. If assigned improvement goals are not reached, a warning schedule may be implemented including the possibility of termination.

This position is in a bargaining unit represented by the Washington Baltimore News Guild CWA.
