Role Overview:

X Up Digital is seeking a highly analytical and forward-thinking Product Research and Development Lead to spearhead the identification of new product opportunities and drive their strategic development for our Amazon-native business. This critical role will be responsible for in-depth market research, competitive analysis, and feasibility studies to identify high-potential product categories and specific product ideas within the Amazon ecosystem. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of Amazon's dynamics, consumer trends, and the product development lifecycle. You will play a key role in shaping our future product roadmap and driving significant growth for X Up Digital on Amazon.

  • Identify New Product Opportunities: Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify promising product categories and niches within the Amazon marketplace.
  • Competitive Analysis: Thoroughly analyze competitor product offerings, pricing strategies, marketing efforts, and customer reviews on Amazon to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.
  • Trend Identification: Stay ahead of emerging consumer trends, technological advancements, and Amazon platform developments to proactively identify future product opportunities.
  • Feasibility Studies: Evaluate the technical, financial, and logistical feasibility of potential new product ideas, including sourcing, manufacturing, and supply chain considerations.
  • Product Conceptualization: Develop detailed product concepts, including features, specifications, target audience, and unique selling propositions (USPs), tailored for the Amazon customer.
  • Market Validation: Design and execute preliminary market validation strategies to assess consumer demand and gather feedback on new product concepts.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with sourcing, product development, marketing, and operations teams to ensure alignment on new product strategy and a smooth transition through the development lifecycle.
  • Amazon Platform Expertise: Maintain a strong understanding of Amazon's product listing requirements, category structures, and customer behavior to inform product development decisions.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize Amazon sales data, market research reports, and other relevant data sources to evaluate the potential of new product ideas and track the performance of launched products.
  • Develop Product Roadmaps: Contribute to the development and prioritization of a robust pipeline of new product opportunities for the Amazon marketplace.
  • Present Findings and Recommendations: Clearly and concisely communicate research findings, product concepts, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in market research, product development, or a related analytical role, with a strong focus on e-commerce, preferably within the Amazon ecosystem.
  • Deep understanding of the Amazon marketplace, including its dynamics, customer behavior, and key product categories.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
  • Excellent research skills, including experience with market research tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends and translate them into viable product opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
