The Opportunity:

Field Service Engineer
Location: UK - South (Ideally Reading, Basingstoke, Oxford, High Wycombe)
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (Flexible)

Avantor is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer with expertise in laboratory equipment. This role involves providing comprehensive technical support, including installation, preventative maintenance, repair, and calibration, ensuring timely and efficient service.

Reporting Structure:

The Field Service Engineer will report directly to the Service Manager.

Candidates should be attentive to customer requirements, offering professional advice when needed, while also promoting products and service contracts whenever possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform calibration, validation, and service for all laboratory products.
  • Ensure timely equipment maintenance as part of the central maintenance service team.
  • Manage goods receiving and delivery processes.
  • Oversee order management to guarantee complete and punctual delivery.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain to meet customer delivery deadlines.
  • Foster positive customer relationships and provide an excellent service experience.
  • Handle returned and defective products with VWR and other suppliers.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to resolve issues and escalate challenges when necessary.
     

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in technical services or a similar role.
     

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Strong background in field service or technical support within high-value electrical capital equipment environments.
  • Exceptional customer-facing skills.
  • Willingness to travel between different client sites.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant technical developments.
  • Experience using SAP.
