One of our companies is currently looking for a Senior Engineering Manager – Backend Developer in Canada or the United States.

This role leads a team focused on empowering backend engineers to ship high-quality code efficiently and joyfully. As the Senior Engineering Manager, you'll guide a group of technically exceptional engineers to build tooling, systems, and frameworks that remove friction from the software development lifecycle. Your team will work closely with other platform teams to instrument developer workflows, champion product-centric improvements, and implement strategies that enhance velocity and scalability across a growing engineering organization. Accountabilities:

  • Lead the Backend Developer Experience team to build tools and frameworks that boost engineering productivity
  • Define and execute a data-driven strategy to optimize the speed, quality, and satisfaction of backend development
  • Partner with product and infrastructure leadership to shape long-term developer experience initiatives
  • Guide the integration and adoption of new tools and methodologies while gracefully retiring legacy systems
  • Cultivate a psychologically safe, growth-oriented team culture with clear expectations and strong mentorship
  • Act as a key voice in strategic planning and cross-functional alignment for platform and infrastructure efforts
  • 4+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, ideally in developer experience or tooling
  • 3+ years of hands-on backend development experience (experience with Haskell or other functional languages is a strong plus)
  • Proven track record in leading remote, distributed engineering teams
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycles, tooling, and performance metrics
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to turn ambiguity into actionable plans
  • Passion for building enabling infrastructure and systems that support engineering teams at scale
