Summary of Job Duties:
As a peer mentor with Retention Outreach (RETO), you will conduct telephone outreach and mentoring to a cohort of around 150 students each semester. This role will involve making hundreds of phone calls, averaging approximately nine calls per hour, as well as leaving voicemails and sending follow-up emails. It also includes scheduling meetings, meeting with students in person, and meticulously logging all outreach and mentoring efforts.
This position will develop UA Career-Ready skills such as Perspective Awareness, Communication, and Critical Thinking.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled full or part-time at the University of Arkansas, degree-seeking undergraduate rising sophomore, junior, or senior
Maintain 3.2 cumulative GPA or above
Customer service experience
Experience in an office setting and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Forms)
Experience and facility with basic FAFSA and other financial aid processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a freshman commuter student
Previous experience with high volume phone outreach (e.g. telephone polling, telemarketing, recruitment)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):
Ability to be thorough and attentive to detail
Ability, desire and willingness to mentor students over the telephone
Ability and willingness to patiently lead mentees through learning processes involving campus technology and resources, time management and study skills, scholarships and financial aid, self-care, accountability, and other processes that impact student success

Compensation & Benefits:
$13.00/hour

Hours and Schedule:
The position is designed to be an 8-hour per week in-person commitment.
Weekly hours worked between 9AM-5PM Monday-Friday.
Employment Timeline:
Start date August 4, 2025. This is a continuous position; reapplication is not required each term unless otherwise notified. This position is active during fall and spring semesters only unless otherwise agreed.
