Engineering | Electrical and Computer EngineeringDevelops, implements, and tests: (1) novel signal processing techniques for cognitive detection, tracking, and estimation of uncooperative and cooperative satellites (with a focus on low Earth orbit (LEO) and including medium Earth orbit (MEO) and geostationary) and (2) software-defined radio (SDR) design to extract navigation observables (including pseudorange, Doppler, carrier phase, direction-of-arrival) from unknown, partially known, and known non-terrestrial and terrestrial sources; Authors at least three peer-reviewed IEEE/ION journal papers per year, which can be any combination of full papers, letters, correspondences, and magazines; Presents research results at IEEE and ION conferences and other symposia; Leads the development of multi-platform integrated positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems comprising cognitive SDRs, inertial measurement units, and other sensors, suitable for stationary base-stations, ground vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and piloted aircraft; Supervises/mentors graduate and undergraduate students pursuing related research in the ASPIN Laboratory, leading to successful completion of the students’ projects and publication of jointly co-authored papers; Serves as a liaison or lead with research sponsoring agencies, presents research results to agencies, coordinates and conducts sponsored research projects involving other technical support staff, and performs other duties as assigned; Prepares technical reports for submission to sponsoring agencies and participates in preparation of research proposals; Conceives new research directions in cognitive sensing and PNT, leading to submission of joint proposals appropriate to the ASPIN Laboratory and ESL, targeting federal agencies and industry sponsors.

Education:
Required: Bachelor’s degree. in electronics, electrical, or computer engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Desired: PhD in electronics, electrical, or computer engineering
Experience:
4 years of experience in signal processing, detection and estimation theory, and cognitive SDR design; documented experience in preparing journal and conference articles.
Desired: Demonstrated experience in hardware prototyping and real-time coding; experience in preparing white papers and proposals.
The target hiring range for this job profile is $88,300- $115,350. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
