About the job

The IaaS Platform and Design Engineering team is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer – Kubernetes to join our team and play a role in the design and maintenance of our Cloud and on-prem Kubernetes environments along with our internal OpenStack platform. As a Senior Systems Engineer - Kubernetes, you will:

  • Provide Kubernetes platform service design for large-scale deployments and workloads with a focus on AKS.
  • Build security into every aspect of your design.
  • Assist with automation of AKS services.
  • Interface with the “customer” to gather functional level requirements for a solution. Works with customers to define the activities and challenges they face, to ensure the solution created solves their problems. Informs customers of current capabilities, what is possible, and what isn't.
  • Assess complex technical problems and take ownership of projects with minimal guidance.
  • Help manage our on-prem OpenStack environment and provide guidance for its future.
  • Learn every day and expect technology to drive a new status quo.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizen Required. 
  • Azure Cloud experience with at least:
    • 8+ years of experience in supporting enterprise solutions/services.
    • 2+ years EKS Kubernetes administration – deploy and maintain AKS clusters at scale.
    • 2+ years of experience in systems support and consulting.
    • 3+ years of experience in Linux.
  • Integration of AKS with other Azure cloud services such as Azure container registry, Azure Application Gateway, Azure Active Directory, and Azure NetApp Files.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture and components
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Github Actions, Helm.
  • Experience using source control solutions like GitHub or GitLab.
  • Willing to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

Preferences

  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert and/or Kubernetes Administrator certifications
  • Strong Python or Go programming skills
  • Linux administration (Ubuntu, Red Hat, Suse)
  • Strong knowledge of OpenStack components and services.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as KVM and VMWare.
  • Experience with NetApp ONTAP filesystems, and the NetApp Trident CSI provisioner.
  • Familiarity with SAS Viya.
  • Familiarity with automation through interaction with remote APIs (REST).
  • Experience with LDAP, ADFS, SAML, or other Identity and Access Management Solutions.
