Director, SEC Reporting & Compliance

As a key member of the Accounting & Finance team, the Director, SEC Reporting & Compliance is responsible for the preparation and filing of all external financial reporting documents and related SEC filings, supervising Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and accounting for all equity-based transactions.
Immediate Supervisor: VP and Corporate Controller
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures timely filings/submissions of all SEC filings, including, but not limited to, forms 6-K, 8-K, proxy, 10-Q, 10-K, and form 4s.
- Work with various personnel and departments to collect information and input into the above referenced reports; coordinate, review and collect comments on the various drafts; prepare support files; challenge the appropriateness of disclosures; complete all relevant disclosure checklists and reporting questionnaires
- Ensures that reports, filings and documentation comply with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Responsibilities include the preparation of footnote disclosures and Management’s Discussion & Analysis and tie-out of financial statements and disclosures
- Review required extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging in connection with filings
- Maintain quarterly SEC reporting timetable and monitor progress against reporting cycle milestones
- Monitor the development and applicability of emerging accounting and reporting rules being deliberated by the SEC, US GAAP, PCAOB, or other regulations.
- Assist with technical accounting research and documentation of new policies and procedures.
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
- Assist with establishment, documentation, and maintenance of company accounting policies.
- Coordinate and supervise Sarbanes-Oxley compliance reviews
- Ensure internal controls over financial reporting are designed and operating effectively
- Help with quarterly & year-end financial audit activities and the corporate financial controls audit
- Responsible for reporting and managing all equity-based transactions
- Assist Markforged payroll function with reporting equity compensation
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested

What you have:
- Bachelor of accounting, finance or related field. CPA preferred
- 4-6 years of financial accounting experience with Big 4 or national public accounting firm and/or industry experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
- Prior experience designing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures—in a SOX environment
- Ability to work in cross functional team environment across multiple senior levels of management
- Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
- Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
- Strong attention to detail, well-organized, solution-oriented
- Comfortable working against deadlines
- Experience with the following systems is preferred: Shareworks by Morgan Stanley, SAGE X3 and Active Disclosure by Donnelley Financial Solutions
