JOB SUMMARY
This position a key member of the finance team working directly with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer. This position will be responsible for applying professional knowledge in the preparation of financial information. This position will perform general accounting and other financial related activities. Additional responsibilities include management of financial audit(s), including, but not limited to, the annual Financial Statement Audits, Single Audits, and preparation of the annual tax return Form 990s for The Wright Center entities.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The position reports to the Controller. Two staff accountants report to this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Lead monthly financial close process including, but not limited to, creation of the monthly closing schedule, monitor progress of monthly closing schedule ensuring assigned due dates by team are met, maintenance of new accounts/cost centers, and monthly closeout of general ledger.
- Responsible for the timely & accurate financial closing including the shared supervisory review of journal entries and select general ledger accounts.
- Responsible for the preparation and / or oversight of monthly reconciliation of select balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure that all financial transactions are captured in the general ledger and in a timely manner within the monthly closing schedule.
- Responsible for management of 340B drug program accounting procedures, ensuring accounting compliance with program requirements.
- Responsible for the financial oversight of the Ryan White Program including day to day duties of Ryan White Program staff accountant.
- Responsible for the financial oversight of contractual GME hospital affiliation learner agreements and monthly invoicing.
- Responsible for researching appropriate accounting for new transactions, as well as implementation and proposing of emerging accounting and reporting guidance.
- Coordinate the annual financial statement and single audit(s).
- Lead the coordination of the financial aspects of the annual Form 990s under the oversight of the Controller.
- Oversee the accounting for American Heart Association Program, including collections and monthly reconciliation.
- Responsible for maintenance of the accounting & finance policy and procedures manual.
- Support work requirements and ad hoc requests with the FP&A team.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent
- CPA or advanced degree preferred, prior public accounting experience a plus
- 5 - 7 years of progressively responsible experience required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP required
- Demonstrate ability to establish work priorities, delegate assignments as appropriate and follow through to ensure completion of activities
- Strong computer aptitude and proficiency, including advanced Excel skills; proficiency in other MS Office applications a must
- Excellent data management & analytical skills with passion for details and “digging in”
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities with superior attention to detail in a dynamic environment; ability to drive process improvements
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
- Highly motivated with a drive to succeed
- Previous experience leading and managing teams & / or projects required
