Walser Auto Campus: Wichita Reconditioning Center - Recon Manager
Job Description
Responsible for managing the flow of used vehicles through the reconditioning process, with a focus on reducing total reconditioning days. The role involves leading recon teams, overseeing vendor performance, and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective results. The ideal candidate should have mechanical and body shop expertise, including knowledge of paintwork and repair solutions. This position will involve creating work plans, sourcing alternative parts at reduced prices, and managing vendor networks to optimize performance and efficiency.
Compensation Range: $70,000-$90,000/year
\n- Lead and support recon department managers and leads to ensure proficiency, productivity, and performance goals are met
- Manage the cosmetic department, working directly with cosmetic vendors to maximize productivity while minimizing costs
- Oversee vendor management to ensure high-quality, timely, and cost-effective outcomes
- Manage the vehicle flow to reduce the total number of days spent in reconditioning
- Identify proper repair solutions using body shop and mechanical expertise
- Ensure exceptional quality control throughout the reconditioning process
- Continuously grow and optimize the vendor network to improve performance and reduce costs
- Provide trade appraisal coverage as needed
- Collaborate with the team to improve processes and optimize operations

- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Body shop experience and knowledge of paintwork, with the ability to identify proper repair remedies
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Critical thinking skills focused on cost-efficient solutions and resource optimization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a data-driven mindset for continuous improvement
- Must prove ability to lead by example
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Must have a positive attitude and work well in a team environment
- Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
