Trend Forecaster
What will you do?
A day in the life of a Trend Forecaster at Timberland looks a little like this.
As a trend strategist, you’ll be the cultural compass for the Timberland brand. You’ll track the rhythm of change across global cities, subcultures, art, design, music, and fashion—turning those insights into seasonal creative direction, monthly storytelling, and future-forward product inspiration. You’ll guide our design and marketing teams with visual narratives that stay true to our roots and push us into the next era. You are a sharp cultural observer and visual thinker.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
- Culture & Community Pulse: Identify and document cultural movements shaping design, fashion, and lifestyle, with a particular eye on Timberland’s values—craft, outdoor grit, urban relevance, and social impact.
- Seasonal Forecasting: Build and deliver mood boards, narratives, and concept frameworks that guide seasonal direction across footwear, apparel, and marketing.
- Monthly Presentations: Create engaging, visually led presentations and reports to inspire cross-functional partners (Design, Marketing, Merchandising, and Leadership).
- City Intelligence: Travel regularly to key global cities (e.g., New York, London, Berlin, Seoul, Tokyo) to capture on-the-ground trends, store and street observations, and material/color innovation.
- Color & Material: Support the seasonal color and material strategy with relevant cultural cues, long-term trend knowledge, and storytelling application.
- Brand Stewardship: Embody a deep understanding and love of the Timberland brand—its history, heroes, and potential. You’ll help ensure our evolution is grounded in who we are and what we stand for.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 5-7 years of experience and professional achievements.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
- Well-versed in emerging subcultures, music, streetwear, sustainability, and heritage craft.
- Skilled at translating abstract ideas into tangible narratives and visual tools.
- Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, AI ) and confident presenting your ideas to cross-functional teams.
- Highly collaborative, self-motivated, and globally minded—comfortable traveling and navigating multiple creative voices.
- Passionate about the Timberland brand, with a genuine interest in our community, product icons, and purpose-led future.
- Ability to travel domestically/internationally up to 25% of time.
