The Sr. Director of Staging Design will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Vesta’s design operations as we continue to expand in the luxury design services market. This is a critical leadership position that will oversee our talented team of 50+ designers across key U.S. markets.
Summary of Role:
The Sr. Director of Staging Design will lead the advancement of Vesta’s design and design processes, blending creativity with operational efficiency. This role will oversee a national team of Creative Directors, guaranteeing that Vesta’s signature aesthetic remains innovative, and aligned with the luxury market.
This role calls for a unique blend of creative vision and operational expertise. This role will develop scalable processes, track performance metrics, and implement improvement initiatives, making certain that design teams consistently meet both creative and operational goals. Additionally this role will foster a culture of excellence, pushing both the artistic and functional aspects of design while maintaining focus on efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
● Leadership & Team Development: Lead and manage four Creative Directors, each overseeing a team of 4-20 designers. Leading by example through collaboration and mentorship, ensuring that teams have the skills, resources and support needed to meet operational goals.
● Process Optimization & Efficiency: Drive the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of design processes and best practices to enhance productivity and design quality across all markets. Establish clear metrics for efficiency (e.g., project timelines, cost per project, designer output) and work closely with Creative Directors so that each team is consistently meeting or exceeding these benchmarks.
● Standardization of Design Operations: Ensure that all markets adhere to Vesta’s design standards and brand guidelines while allowing room for regional creativity. Create and standardize core processes for design teams to follow, making sure that staging and design projects are completed efficiently and consistently.
● Designer Performance & Metrics: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of design teams in each market. This includes metrics related to design timelines, quality of execution, team collaboration, and overall project efficiency. Track these KPIs and provide regular feedback and coaching to Creative Directors on how to improve individual and team performance.
● Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership, C Suite executives and other departments (e.g., logistics and operations) to align on company-wide initiatives. Collaborate with procurement to ensure that the necessary inventory is available to meet all project demands..
Key Deliverables/Objectives:
● Define and refine Vesta’s creative vision, balancing innovation with the brand’s established aesthetic to maintain its strong presence in the luxury design space.
● Drive the implementation of best practices across all markets, ensuring that design teams operate at optimal efficiency with consistent output quality.
● Establish and track efficiency metrics, such as project turnaround time, cost management and design quality, across all regional teams.
● Develop a robust system for continuous feedback and performance management, cultivating the Vesta core values and culture among the design teams.
● Create scalability of design operations across all markets by standardizing workflows and identifying areas for operational improvements.
Required Skills, Training and Experience to Perform the Essential Functions:
● Minimum of 10 years of experience in interior design, luxury home staging and/or architecture with a focus on managing design teams and operations.
● Proven ability to optimize and streamline design processes to reduce costs while enhancing the overall quality of deliverables.
● Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor and motivate creatives to meet and exceed performance goals.
● Experience implementing and tracking designer efficiency metrics and KPIs, fostering a culture of accountability among creative teams.
Preferred Skills:
● Experience in luxury home staging, or related fields.
● Experience with large-scale project management and cross-functional team collaboration.
● Ability to effectively implement process improvements and drive change in a growing, fast-paced company.
● Previous experience in managing remote teams across multiple markets and regions.
● Proficiency with design software tools (e.g., CAD, Illustrator, Sketchup etc.).
