Position Summary
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for handling incoming revenues, vendor and contractor payments, payroll processing support, and purchasing transactions. This role includes performing routine and complex clerical and accounting functions with attention to detail and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- General Accounting & Cash Handling: Receive, verify, and key incoming revenues; prepare deposits and withdrawals; generate cash receipt reports and special reports as needed.
- Accounts Payable: Process invoices and check requests; verify accuracy of statements; coordinate payments; maintain vendor ledgers and distribute checks.
- Payroll Support: Track time and attendance; maintain records of leave balances; prepare payroll changes and review checks for accuracy.
- Purchasing Activities: Process requisitions and purchase orders; communicate with suppliers for pricing and delivery; support preparation of reports, charts, and data inputs.
- RX Receivables: Post Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) into RX 30 system; maintain EOB documentation; update pricing for in-system items.
- Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Evaluation
Performance, including duties, responsibilities, demeanor, and work ethics, will be evaluated continuously by the Chief Financial Officer per Valley Healthcare System, Inc. policies.
Schedule
Monday – Friday
25-29 hours weekly
Salary
$20.96 per hour
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with coursework in bookkeeping
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or advanced recordkeeping (relevant coursework may substitute for one year of experience)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience providing required knowledge, skills, and abilities

- Adherence to Valley Healthcare System policies and procedures.
- Must comply with all Federal, State, and Local healthcare regulations, including HIPAA Privacy and Security rules.
- Required to sign and abide by the Pledge of Confidentiality regarding all patient health information (PHI), including after the end of employment.
- Maintain confidentiality obligations beyond the term of employment.
This position is at risk for occupational exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids and requires adherence to all applicable safety protocols.
