Job Description
The USC Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, in partnership with the Eli and Edythe Broad Center for Regenerative Medicine, is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Lab Technician II to join our team.
This position is based in the ASCEND Shared Resource Laboratory, a dynamic CIRM-funded facility dedicated to expanding access to cutting-edge stem cell technologies. ASCEND’s mission is to democratize science by making disease models, experimental techniques, and tools accessible to beginners—while also offering deep expertise in organoid culture and modeling.
The candidate will be expected to perform primarily across two areas:
Create innovative educational materials and deliver educational modules to trainees Produce organoid models from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)

Job Summary:
This position requires the ability to teach others and to be skilled in the usage of cell culture techniques.
Job Accountabilities:
Education
Teaches classes and helps with advertising and recruitment for basic level and intermediate level classes offered by ASCEND
Helps prepare and present SOPs and lecture material for workshops and classes
Organoid Production
Perform stem cell culture, expand cells, and produce organoids
Conducts laboratory activities in a safe, reproducible, standardized, and ethical manner
Keep accurate and detailed notes and follow best TC standards and practices
General Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and public speaking ability
High computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Web research
Has a flexible schedule including working weekends on a semi-regular basis
Qualifications:
Education: Undergraduate or MS degree in a life sciences field
Experience: Previous teaching experience, cell culture, molecular biology experience.
Preferred:
Previous experience in course development
Previous experience in higher level educational topics (CRISPR, tissue engineering scRNAseq, bioinformatics, spatial transcriptomics, cell and gene therapy)
Expertise in growth and characterization of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC)
Previous experience with routine molecular biology techniques such as qRT-PCR, IF, nucleic acid and protein extraction
The annual base salary range for this position is $24.46- $30.14. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 1 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
