relentless safety culture in our 24/7, 365-day defense manufacturing stronghold. You’ll lead
the charge in a high-stakes, mil-spec environment, driving excellence in Total Recordable
Incident Rate (TRIR) and Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART) metrics. With deep
expertise in heavy manufacturing—steel mills, forges, casting shops, or large plastics
processors—you’ll enforce safety protocols for hazardous environments involving molten
metal, chemicals, and roboticized operations. Wielding job hazard analyses, chemical
controls, and spill prevention plans, you’ll ensure mission-critical safety and compliance in a
DoD-aligned facility.

Drive Uncompromising Safety Culture: Champion the mantra “All accidents are
preventable, ”embedding a proactive safety mindset across all levels of a 24/7, 365-day operation.
Master Safety Metrics: Calculate, report, and drive excellence in TRIR and DART, using data to eliminate incidents in a high-intensity, mil-spec environment.
Command Hazardous Environments: Specify and enforce proper PPE for high-risk tasks involving high temperatures, molten metal, chemicals, and overhead lifting, ensuring workforce protection.
Lead Chemical Hazard Control: Oversee chemical hazard monitoring, controls, and reporting, ensuring compliance with TCEQ, EPA, and other state/federal regulations while training staff from entry-level to experienced.
Conduct Risk Assessments: Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) and ergonomic assessments to mitigate risks; implement light-duty and return-to-work programs to support workforce resilience.
Ensure Material Handling Safety: Enforce safety protocols for overhead lifting, forklifts, and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), with a focus on heavily roboticized environments.
Support Plant Overhauls: Collaborate on plant overhauls and installation projects, managing contractor and vendor safety programs to maintain operational integrity.
Fortify Spill Prevention: Develop and execute spill prevention plans, ensuring rapid
response and compliance with environmental regulations.
Train a Battle-Ready Workforce: Design and deliver comprehensive safety training for all shifts, including off-shift staff, covering PPE, chemical hazards, robotics, and material handling.
Lock in Regulatory Compliance: Manage reporting requirements for TCEQ, OSHA, and other agencies, ensuring adherence to mil-spec, ISO 9001, and DoD standards through rigorous audits.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 7+ years in EHS management in heavy manufacturing (steel mills, refineries, mines, forges, casting shops, or large injection molding plastics processors); proven success in DoD or mil-spec environments.
Technical Skills: Fluency in TRIR and DART metrics; expertise in chemical hazard controls, JHA, ergonomic assessments, and spill prevention; deep knowledge of PPE for hazardous environments.
Certifications: OSHA 30-hour (or equivalent); certifications in material handling safety (forklifts, overhead cranes) and hazardous materials management.
Leadership/Work Style: Hands-on, “in the trenches” leadership; driver of safety culture; thrives under pressure in a 24/7 operation; proven ability to train diverse teams.
Soft Skills: Precision-driven problem-solver; collaborative yet authoritative; committed to mission-critical safety.
Physical Requirements: Ready to stand, navigate hazardous shop floors, and lead in a high-intensity environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in heavily roboticized manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with DoD-specific safety and environmental protocols.
Knowledge of ERP systems for safety and compliance tracking.
Work Environment:
You’ll lead the charge in our cutting-edge manufacturing facility—a high-energy battlefield of
molten metal, chemicals, heavy machinery, and advanced robotics. Expect occasional
travel for supplier or regulatory engagements and a 24/7 operational tempo.
