Summary of Job Duties:
The Department Accountant will maintain proactive relationships with department personnel and communicate financial information and purchasing policy effectively; oversee purchasing in the department ensuring compliance with applicable regulations; manage and provide monthly financial reports for state, grant, Foundation and service center accounts and recommend action as needed to Department Head and faculty; maintain salary distributions for department employees; assist with the preparation of annual operations budget; oversee fleet vehicle reporting and internal vehicle chargebacks; act as backup for expense report creation and submission; investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities; and complete special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years of accounting and supervisory experience.
- Experience with Workday.
- University accounting experience such as grant management, state-allocated budgets, and multi-institutional transactions.
