Sr. Manager, Technical Process and Product Improvement  (Hybrid in South San Francisco, CA)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior  Manager, Technical Process and Product Improvement. to join the Information and Business Technology (IBT) organization.  We are looking for a leader who has clearly demonstrated strategic leadership and a track record of maintaining effective business relationships with senior management to ensure IBT can deliver solutions that align with business strategies and objectives.  

The ideal candidate has demonstrated success in a technical product management role and with a proven ability to lead, manage, and participate on multiple teams effectively.  This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and business leadership.  You’ll bring a balance of technical depth, business acumen, and customer empathy to help meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Technical Product Managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with diverse internal teams - including engineering, marketing, sales, operations, and customer support - to break down silos, synthesize insights from each group, and proactively identify and prioritize initiatives.  Ensure that product decisions anticipate and address emerging business needs, positioning the organization to stay ahead of market demands.
  • Develop and manage the IBT roadmap, balancing competing priorities and in alignment with business needs and strategic objectives.
  • Gather and document detailed business requirements for projects, ensuring clarity and alignment across teams.
  • Demonstrate strong customer empathy and advocate for customer needs throughout the product development process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 8+ years of experience in a related field and 3+ years People Leadership experience.
  • Experience directly related to technical product management, customer relationship management or products, systems or applications experience.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to gather and document detailed business requirements and work with users to complete user acceptance testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage product roadmaps and project timelines.
  • Customer-centric mindset and a strong sense of customer empathy.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience or academic background in mRNA therapeutics, synthetic biology workflows, MRD (Minimum Residual Disease), MGF (Multiplexed Gene Fragments), or DNA/RNA library generation.
  • Familiarity with eCommerce platforms, Business Applications such as Salesforce.com and SAP
  • Familiarity with development and code management systems like Jira and GitHub.
  • Passion for improving the accessibility and usability of scientific products through digital innovation.

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.
