Job Title

Staff, Product Manager, API Gateway and Developer Experience.

About the job

This role is instrumental in developing and executing the strategy for Twilio's API Gateway and Developer Experience products on a global scale. You will collaborate within the Twilio Technology Platform, shaping the platform that supports Twilio's global communications services. You will be working on API design, developer experience, planning and prioritizing sprints, defining the product roadmap and spec-ing out new features and product enhancements.. 

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Create and contribute to the roadmap for your product area.
  • Communicate both the business and technical rationale behind your product decisions.
  • Define and report product metrics - being data driven is key.
  • Mock up concepts, write functional specs, cut tickets, write copy and do whatever it takes to express your ideas to our internal engineers, designers and other product managers. Work with your engineering team and provide consistent product support to ship products. 
  • Engage with our developer community to understand how we can improve our products to increase functionality and unlock new uses. A significant portion of our customers are developers, and we are passionate about building products for them.

*Required:

  • 4+ years of experience envisioning and building resilient, high-throughput services and products.
  • Ability to work with engineering, architecture, design, product marketing, GTM sales and customer support to help launch new products and support existing ones.
  • Be able to contribute to the management of your products from both a technical and business perspective. The success of our products is in your hands. 
  • The ability to ship quality products in a fast-paced environment. We expect you to be able to work and communicate across the organization at all levels. It is particularly important that you have experience working directly with engineers and engineering management.
  • Strong technical background.
  • You are hands on, passionate, and collaborative.  
  • You have strong analytical and problem solving skills, and are data driven. 
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Desired:

  • Coding experience through academic, professional, or personal projects to effectively communicate with technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with REST API industry standards, SDK best practices is a big plus
  • Experience in developing large-scale, enterprise-grade APIs for PaaS and SaaS platforms, including API gateways, SDK development, and infrastructure.
  • A Master in Engineering or Technology degree is preferred

Location

This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.

Travel 

We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, you may be required to travel occasionally to participate in project or team in-person meetings.

Compensation

*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : 184,500 - 230,700.
  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $195,300 - $244,200.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $217,000 - $271,300.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
