Job Description

We are seeking a Policy Advisor to join our team. As a Policy Advisor, you will play a key role in shaping our strategic response to emerging policy issues. Your focus will span five core areas: horizon scanning for upcoming challenges and opportunities, staying informed on government policy, regulation, and best practice, supporting research and local housing market analysis, and producing clear, insightful briefings and reports. Your work will ensure the Group remains informed, compliant, and proactive in a constantly evolving policy environment.

Outline of key responsibilities of the Policy Advisor…

  • Monitor and analyse new and emerging public policy developments impacting Together Housing’s strategic objectives, providing regular reports and presentations to senior management.
  • Engage with internal and external networks, including working groups, to stay informed of relevant policy changes and advise on potential impacts.
  • Stay informed about housing sector developments and conduct, commission and contribute to relevant policy research.
  • Contribute to the production of responses to relevant consultations from Government and trade bodies such as the National Housing Federation where appropriate.
  • Support service leads in providing insight and advice in developing policies to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and general good practice.
  • Provide support to the Policy and Insight Manager in the production of annual reports including Environmental, Social and Governance standards and the delivery of value for money objectives.
  • Work with colleagues from the Policy and Insight Team to generate and disseminate actionable insight from research and data analysis aimed at solving problems and delivering improved outcomes for customers and the wider business.
  • Work with colleagues from across THG to monitor the impact of policy decisions and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Engage with Internal and External stakeholders to gather intelligence and build consensus to policy development.

 

We are looking for someone who has…

  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Experience of analysing and presenting data and information both verbally and in written format to a high quality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical to understand the practical implications of policy changes.
  • Through research and analysis undertake review, evaluate and where appropriate recommend changes in policy and procedures

  • Starting salary of £34,927
  • 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays

  • This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 37 hours of work each week.
  • Hybrid role - approximately one day a week in the office.
  • This position will involve working from both our Halifax and Blackburn offices, with a requirement to attend the office once a week. The team is distributed across both locations. During the remainder of the week, you will have the flexibility to work from home.
