Desk Editor, The Insurer - Reuters
This position will be based in Reuters' London bureau, with hybrid working available.

The Insurer, a market-leading specialty (re)insurance news, analysis, and data service published by Reuters, is seeking a Desk Editor to join its team in London. This is a hybrid role for a versatile journalist who can both polish copy to wire-ready standards and take the lead on writing major stories for a global financial audience.
The Insurer spans the underwriting and distribution of complex risk, and the capital, infrastructure, and services that support it. From climate change to cyber threats, we report on the forces reshaping the risk landscape, and how insurance and reinsurance markets respond.
About the Role
As Desk Editor at The Insurer, you will:
Edit and refine copy: Ensure stories are accurate, clear, and ready for publication on The Insurer website as well as Reuters and LSEG platforms.
Lead write major stories: Take the reins on high-impact coverage, delivering clean, compelling copy under tight deadlines.
Work flexibly: Switch seamlessly between editing, writing and supporting the wider editorial team.
Collaborate across the newsroom: Partner with reporters and editors to shape coverage and uphold editorial standards.
Simplify complexity: Translate technical financial and insurance concepts into accessible, engaging journalism.
Embrace multimedia: Experience in integrating visuals, video or audio into storytelling is preferred.
Innovate with AI: Interest in using AI tools to enhance editing workflows and newsroom efficiency is a must.
About You
You’re a fit for the Desk Editor role if your background includes:
Demonstrable experience editing financial news in a newsroom environment.
A proven ability to write wire-ready copy quickly and cleanly.
A flexible, hybrid approach to work—comfortable juggling multiple tasks and priorities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
A keen eye for detail and a passion for clarity and accuracy.
