Under the general direction and supervision of the Corporate Counsel & Compliance Officer, this position assists in the maintenance and functioning of the Bank’s Compliance Program, which is designed to ensure overall compliance with consumer protection regulations, minimize the potential of consumer harm and of regulatory penalties and fines, and minimize any negative impact to the Bank’s reputation resulting from non-compliance with regulatory requirements. This position supports operational and compliance functions in conformance with established Bank policies and procedures. This position also assists in the administration of the Bank’s Third-Party Risk Management Program. Furthermore, this position acts as the Bank’s Audit Liaison under the direction of the Chief Operating and Risk Officer with a functional alignment to the Audit Committee.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the Compliance team’s efforts in serving as a compliance resource for all departments, researching issues, answering questions, and providing transactional advice on an as-needed basis to support regulatory compliance of specific operations.
  • Assists the Senior Compliance and Risk Analyst in the evaluation of new/existing products, procedures, processes, and systems with respect to identifying and controlling compliance risk. Provides assistance in developing worksheets and other tools to ensure areas of risk are property identified and documented.
  • Participates in compliance monitoring reviews under the direction of the Senior Compliance and Risk Analyst.
  • Assists in support for federal and state regulatory compliance exams and internal compliance audits.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of federal and state laws and regulations impacting Bank operations and keeps informed of regulatory developments.
  • Supports the Corporate Counsel & Compliance Officer and the Senior Compliance and Risk Analyst in connection with activities relating to the maintenance of Compliance

  • Department’s policies and procedures, internal and external communication, record keeping, compliance training, and report creation and maintenance.
  • Under the direction of the Corporate Counsel & Compliance Officer, assists business unit owners in their initial and ongoing due diligence activities in accordance with the Bank’s Third-Party Risk Management Program. Supports the administrative functions of tracking and reporting on third-party due diligence requirements.
  • Acts as the Bank’s Audit Liaison, under the direction of the Chief Operating and Risk Officer and in coordination with the Bank’s Executive Administrator. This role functionally aligns to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. The responsibilities of the Audit Liaison, in accordance with the Bank’s Audit Policy, includes the following:
  • Acts as liaison between outsourced firms (audit, credit review), management and Audit Committee, including coordination of engagement letters.
  • Coordinates annual risk assessments and Audit planning, working with outsourced firm and business unit management.
  • Responsible, with the assistance of the outsourced firm, for planning, organizing, and ensuring implementation of the Internal Audit Program.
  • Coordinates audit/review scheduling, working with the Bank’s Executive Administrator, the outsourced firm and management.
  • Coordinates Audit Committee meeting agendas and materials, working with Chair of Audit Committee and the Executive Administrator. Attends Audit Committee meetings and takes minutes.
  • Monitors audits/reviews in progress through management responses and final report delivery and provides assistance/escalation, as necessary.
  • In coordination with the Executive Administrator, maintains and coordinates the Bank’s Issue Management process, including reporting to management and the Audit Committee.
  • It should be expected that from time to time, other duties related and unrelated to the above, may be assigned and, therefore, required.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma / GED required, associate's degree in business or related field preferred 
  • Relationship Banker I: One to three years of previous retail banking experience in a Teller or Relationship Banker I role preferred
  • Relationship Banker II: One to three years of previous retail banking experience in a Relationship Banker role preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with tact and diplomacy
