About the Team:

Talos Engineering’s Conveyor Design team is made up of dedicated and passionate individuals who take pride in the equipment design. Egos are left at the door, which allows for fun and creative problem solving. We work both independently and as a group. We gladly help each other out when a team member is in need. 


About the Role:

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, fabrication, and production assembly of both standard and custom roller conveyor solutions. This will include creating designs and fabrication drawings for formed sheet-metal components and weldments, creating assembly drawings and documentation, and maintaining and updating the necessary standard documentation for sales and implementation. This role will be heavily focused on hands-on design and documentation, both internal and directly project related. In this role, you will…  

  • Design medium-duty material handling conveyor, both new/custom assemblies as well as expansion of standardized products. 
  • Create and release models and drawings for fabricated parts and assemblies. 
  • Create and release basic wiring diagrams and power distribution drawings for material handling products and projects. 
  • Source and specify mechanical/electrical components in material handling equipment. 
  • Apply real-world knowledge of engineering principles to design products and projects. 
  • Support other team member in designing and testing products. 

Requirements

 

We’re excited about you because you…  

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Mechatronics) and 2-5 years of experience in a design role associated with material handling or a similar industrial product. 
  • Have a working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD product (SolidWorks, PTC Creo, etc) and Autodesk Vault or similar PDM program (Windchill, etc). Exposure to AutoCAD Mechanical 2D and/or AutoCAD Electrical is a bonus. 
  • Have a strong understanding of fabrication processes including sheet metal cutting/forming, welding, and bolt-together assembly. 
  • Hands-on experience in the fabrication and/or assembly of industrial material-handling products is a bonus. 
  • Can speak and write clearly and accurately and can effectively use Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.) to communicate. 
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Have the ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced cross functional team. 
  • Are enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of serving a diverse range of users. 
  • Have knowledge of customer service principles and practices. 
  • Have the ability to meet deadlines, even if it requires extra hours. Possess multi-tasking capabilities.
