POSITION OBJECTIVES:
- Provide strategic leadership for a team of Clinical Data Engineers responsible for building, maintaining and enhancing data pipelines across clinical systems.
- Responsible for the integration, design, development, and execution of data pipelines for the ingestion and integration of clinical data from all trial data sources.
- Develop and maintain a library of data schemas and templates for managing sustainable clinical data flows.
- Accountable to act as the technical data SME for data related process work in Takeda.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead team of Clinical Data Engineers responsible for building data pipelines [ETL or ELT] for various heterogenous data sources.
- Drive strategy related to the design and implementation of scalable data delivery pipelines and transition from manual to automated processes.
- Serve as a thought leader and strategist ; guide and empower the team to develop and maintain, tools, libraries, and reusable templates of data pipelines and standards for study level consumption by data configuration engineers.
- Build and maintain infrastructure for data extraction, transformation and loading of data using cloud technologies.
- Able to communicate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical teams at all levels of the organization.
- Educate and train end users about clinical data pipelines.
- Motivate and support team members in achieving business priorities and development goals.
- Able to manage study deliverable timelines and deliver on time with high quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business priorities and ensure alignment with CDE roadmap.
- Promote organizational knowledge of data sources and systems to educate stakeholders on best practices for data ingestion and data integration to pursue company objectives.
- Provide technical leadership on various aspects of clinical data flow including assisting with the definition, build, and validation of application program interfaces (APIs), data streams, data staging to various systems for data extraction and integration.
- Organize and set clear goals and expectations for direct reports and stakeholders related to CDE deliverables.
- Understand end-to-end requirements for stakeholders and contribute to process and conventions for clinical data ingestion and data transfer agreements.
- Act as functional process expert in the development of Clinical Data Engineering SOPs and provide business guidance.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- BS degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- 15+ years’ experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in data engineering, building data pipelines to manage heterogenous data ingestions or similar in data integration across multiple sources including collected data.
- Experience developing data architecture for heterogenous data sources.
- Expert understanding of computer system validation and GCP regulations.
- Experience in people leadership, managing global teams, and fostering collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with Python/R, SQL, NoSQL
- Experience with Cloud computing platforms (i.e., AWS, AZURE or GCP)
- Experience with GitLab, GitHub
- Experience deploying data pipelines [ETL or ELT] in the cloud
- Experience setting up and working with data warehouse & data lakes (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon RedShift).
- Experience with clinical data standards and domains.
- Must understand database concepts (e.g., XML, JSON, APIs).
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work groups. Strong project management skills. Proven ability to resolve problems independently and collaboratively.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands.

USA - MA - CambridgeU.S. Base Salary Range:
$174,500.00 - $274,230.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
