About the role:

Value Realization is the key to understanding how strategy implementation impacts your operational and transformational goals.  A Value Realization Office (VRO) is how that understanding is monitored, communicated and continuously improved.

Sun Life Canada is strengthening its Value Realization Office, with a critical mission to increase the flow of value across the Canadian business. This will complement the role of traditional PMOs in the enterprise.  This shall enable, orchestrate & accelerate business outcomes so that the Canadian portfolio can achieve its strategic objectives and priorities.

We are seeking an experienced Planview Consultant to join our team and support the integration and adoption of Planview across Sun Life Canada.  Reporting to the Director, VRO, this role will also have a dotted reporting line into the Digital Business Technology Solutions – Digital Enterprise Enablement Tools team. 

 The ideal candidate is a Technical SME with a strong understanding of business processes, change management, and Agile Frameworks.  The incumbent will be comfortable with a flexible work environment, adapting to changing priorities and working on multiple projects at different stages, with different stakeholders.

What you will be doing:

  • Act as a key resource for our core Enterprise Agile and Strategic Portfolio Management technologies, including but not limited to Planview Portfolios, AgilePlace, Planview Hub and Jira Cloud.
  • Work closely with a wide variety of end users and stakeholders, including Agile teams, Finance, Strategy and VRO partners to maximize the potential of our supported tool set.
  • Coordinate and manage the integration between AgilePlace and Jira. Ensuring seamless data flow, synchronization, and alignment of work across platforms.
  • Consult directly with agile, program & portfolio management teams to establish the best course of action for their technical readiness and training needs.
  • Partnering on detailed technical configuration for Agile workflow construction, meeting the evolving needs of our diverse user groups in alignment with the Planview Product Owners.
  • Help develop, maintain, improve and train on courses, and engage in consulting opportunities by collaborating with other subject matter experts and product owners.
  • Contribute ways to optimize and improve setup and workflows and identify where functionality can or cannot meet the Agile User Community needs; then provide creative recommendations for improvements to address our challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define integration use cases, and maintain system configurations that support agile project delivery.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and collaborate for optimizing integration performance, resolving sync issues and ensuring the reliability and scalability of the connected systems.
  • Configure and manage user permissions, groups, roles, projects, boards, workflows, and issue types in Jira Cloud.
  • Enable best practices within these tools across the organization, aligning and managing to a global set of standards.
  • Engage with Waterfall, Agile, and Digital Enterprise communities to share best practices, understand challenges, identify needs, and collaborate with Product Owners to develop, implement, and evaluate new capabilities to facilitate ongoing improvement and education.
  • Assist with the creation of dashboards, reports, and metrics for leadership and teams that roll up at a product, value stream or portfolio level with PowerBI.
  • Support and maintain workflows for our user community.

What you will need to succeed:

  • 3+ years of experience administering and configuring Planview ideally with experience with tool integrations.
  • Strong working knowledge administering Jira at the enterprise level.
  • A strong understanding and working experience of Planview products, including configuration of Planview AgilePlace, Portfolios and Hub (error monitoring).
  • Experience with Atlassian and/or Atlassian Cloud, Jira and Confluence products.
  • Working knowledge of the integration with Jira to other tools (Planview, Confluence, Workday, ServiceNow and SAP).
  • Expert knowledge of Jira features, workflows, permissions model, and administration.
  • Working knowledge of Planview OKRs, Dependencies, PI Planning, Reporting and Metrics functionality.
  • Strong skills in Data Analysis and technical troubleshooting/problem solving.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, documentation and influencing skills.
  • Experience working in agile software development environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or commensurate equivalent.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in consulting, project management, data mapping and transformation
  • Familiarity with Power BI, ideally creating reports.
  • Effective at facilitating and teaching concepts and ideas at team and Executive leadership levels.
  • Relevant business experience, ideally within insurance, wealth management and/or other financial services.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
