Summary
Reporting to the Sourcing Manager, the Buyer serves as an agent to purchase raw materials, finished components, MRO supplies, tools and/or services for our manufacturing company. In addition, the Buyer will assist in analyzing and scheduling purchased materials to meet manufacturing and inventory plans for the company, as required to fulfill customer on-time delivery requirements. This role requires effective communication with suppliers and internal teams.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

- Analyzes material availability and schedules material purchases utilizing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
- Reviews and sets planning parameters and issues purchase orders as necessary to meet production requirements at optimum inventory levels for assigned commodities.
- Tracks purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Communicates with suppliers to confirm order details and delivery schedules.
- Monitors inventory levels and manage stock replenishment to avoid shortages.
- Effectively engages in problem resolution on such items as defective purchases, invoice problems, credit memos, receiving transaction discrepancies, order changes and cancellations, etc.
- Plans and executes sourcing strategies for products and services in conjunction with cross-functional project teams.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure continuous improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- A minimum of a high school education or equivalent supplemented by additional course work in Procurement, Logistics and Negotiations.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a Buyer or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems as they relate to Purchasing; Epicor experience is a plus.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Analytical skills to analyze procurement data to make informed purchasing decisions.
- An understanding of production and inventory control procedures.
- Problem solving skills to address and resolve issues related to order discrepancies, delayed shipments and non-conforming material.
- Knowledge of international shipping is a plus.
- Knowledge of stock and inventories best practices.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
- Experience purchasing metals is a plus.
