Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Account Manager covering the Midlands up to Manchester reporting to the Senior Regional Sales Manager. As an Account Manager you will drive profitable growth within their assigned territory by converting enquiries into orders and expanding John Crane’s market presence. This role involves identifying and developing new customer accounts, maintaining strong relationships, promoting our products with technical expertise, and ensuring excellent service delivery. The successful candidate will execute territory growth plans, collaborate closely with engineering and tender teams, manage sales reporting, and uphold high standards of health, safety, and compliance.

This role is based remote working Monday to Friday normal office hours with regular travel to customer sites.

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Develop, gain approval and execute growth plan for allocated territory, ensuring inclusion of key John Crane products and services initiatives, which support achievement of Company business objectives
  • Identify, secure and develop new customer accounts that increase John Crane market penetration
  • Sustain existing customer accounts and relationships, ensuring service delivery requirements are achieved
  • Promote and sell John Crane Products in accordance with the company policy, pricing guidelines and regulations.
  • Presenting the product range and its technical attributes / benefits for customers and maintaining relationship
  • Support and coordinate customer enquiries, quote preparation for non-pricelist products and work with Application Engineering
  • Actively involvement in the delivery of goods, invoicing and collections on payment from the customers.
  • Preparation of thorough monthly reports to communicate progress of sales plan in line with business needs
  • Act as a role model for Health, Safety and Environmental issues, actively participating in the development of safety culture and behaviours, including reporting all hazardous and unsafe acts
  • Update sales funnel opportunities in C4C tool with accurate information based on quote follow-ups and customer feedback
  • Create customer visit reports which provide clear customer information and order potential
  • To communicate frequently with the tendering and engineering teams to support delivery of quality tenders
  • Conduct Lost Bid Analysis and propose actions to increase tender/order hit rate
  • Act as a role-model for compliance, ensuring appropriate processes and controls are in place and followed to meet the highest ethical standards and to adhere to Company regulations
  • All other duties as relevant to the Sales function

Qualifications

  • Experience working within an Engineering business
  • Strong communication skills both written and spoken
  • Ensure all company equipment is kept in good condition and reporting faults or damage to the Sales Manager
  • Strong time management
  • Able to financial manage including planning and budgeting
