The Position:
We are looking for an experience Director, Accounts Receivable to add to our roster.  Reporting to the VP of Shared Services, the Director AR will be responsible for oversight of the team working on billing, invoice collections and cash application, dispute resolutions, and credit extensions, affiliate collections and direct-to-consumer sales. In addition, this role will develop our internal policy for recording bad debt and ensure compliance with this and other policies and manage relationships with customers and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of collection processes, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to drive process improvements.

This is a hybrid position and can be located in NYC or Southport, CT.

The Game Plan:
(What you will do)

  • Lead and Manage: Provide leadership and direction to the accounts receivable team, ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and timely.
  • WideOrbit Expertise: Utilize in-depth knowledge of WideOrbit to oversee AD sales transactions, billing, and payment processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounts receivable department.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present detailed financial reports to senior management, providing insights into receivables status and trends.
  • Collections Management: Oversee the collections process, ensuring timely and effective collection of outstanding invoices while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to accounts receivable.
  • Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the accounts receivable team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as sales, finance, and customer service to ensure alignment and support for accounts receivable activities.
  • Generate statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status.
  • Create and maintain the monthly AR aging analysis and dashboards. 
  • Assist the Treasury team with management of the Company's AR credit facilities.
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures for areas of responsibility and look for opportunities to automate and improve daily account processes.
  • Work with collections agencies and outside counsel to recover funds that are past due, or from accounts that are in default.
  • Provide training to new employees and document procedures to streamline the training process.
  • Ensure proper audit support and internal controls.
  • Participation in monthly close process in the preparation of revenue entries, revenue and cash collection analytics, creation of financial reports relating to the AR function and status of Accounts Receivable and Deferred Revenue accounts. This will include explanations of variances and adverse trends to management.
  • Identify opportunities to automate current processes and implement effective controls to drive efficiency.

The Stats:
(What to bring)

  • BS degree with emphasis in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of credit and collections experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role for a mid-to-large company ($500M - $5B).
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounts receivable management, with significant experience in AD sales and WideOrbit.
  • Must have experience resolving issues with B2B collections with Fortune 500 companies.
  • Experience with Workday, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and web-based collections management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience leading high performing functional and cross-functional teams to drive results.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience using data to drive decision making.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (complex formulas, data analytics, pivot table, etc.). The position requires strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a high sense of urgency.
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines/goals.
  • Experience training and developing teams.
  • Experience working with a remote team.
  • Ability to influence, drive process, implement change, proactively lead and advise in a rapidly changing business environment while demonstrating a high level of transparency, accountability and collaboration cross-functionally.

The Company is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base compensation range for this role is $145K - 155K.  Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
