What’s the role

Joining a small team in a new role which was born from successful business engagement and leadership commitment to resilience. You’ll report to the business continuity manager and will have flexibility to scope and shape your workload to deal with evolving business risks and opportunities. Ideal for someone with an existing background in operational risk and resilience looking to bring innovation and critical thinking to how we deliver the biggest uplift to the threat of disruption.

The purpose of the Trading & Supply (T&S) business is to maximize sustained value creation across commodity markets in support of overarching RDS objectives of material cash generation and a high return on capital.

The Commercial Operations organization includes both ‘run the business capabilities’ covering commercial operations support activities as well as ‘change the business capabilities’ through enhanced business transformation activities such as project delivery.

The T&S Integrated Process Risk and Controls team (IPRC) supports, protects, and enables the business by driving synergies and positive change via standardization and improvement of process, control and assurance activities, whilst aligning with the overarching T&S priorities and delivering a commercial approach to the implementation of LOD2 activities. This includes the delivery of business resilience capabilities, with a particular and continued focus on cyber.

The Business Continuity Team is a part of IPRC and supports delivering on this overall objective. The team plays a critical role in ensuring that T&S can continue to operate during and after disruptive events.

What you’ll be doing

  • Identify and document people, process, technology, data and facilities that enable important / critical business services to ensure commercial resilience
  • Build and maintain impact tolerances statements for important business services in partnership with the business, and support wider risk mitigation efforts
  • Business Continuity Plan Development and Maintenance, support the business in developing, documenting and maintaining fit for purpose BCPs
  • Coordinate and conduct routine testing of BCPs, track outcomes and remedial actions
  • Coordinate and conduct business resilience focused exercise across T&S (i.e. Cyberattack simulations), track outcomes and remedial actions
  • Support documentation, review and maintenance of Cyber Response Playbooks across T&S
  • Deliver BC awareness sessions to build capability across T&S
  • Act as a liaison during incidents and support crisis management communication cascade for T&S
  • Build global relationships with business continuity focal points across the T&S commercial businesses and functions to drive positive process change
  • Support reporting on material updates and KRI/KPIs to management
  • Reporting to T&S IPRC’s Business Continuity Lead, this role will work closely with all LoBs, process, controls and assurance teams within IPRC.
  • The T&S business environment is very dynamic, with a highly complex regulatory and internal system landscape. The team is located globally, with multiple interfaces to our Trading hubs in London, Rotterdam, Houston and Singapore so the candidate will require strong communication skills and virtual management of interfaces.
  • The Business Resilience environment is ever-changing with increasing threats leading to criticality of this role to all in T&S. This creates and excellent opportunity for growth of role to meet the dynamic environment and needs.
  • This is an outstanding opportunity to gain exposure of key T&S business areas and work closely with the T&S wide leadership teams.

What you bring

  • Experience with interacting with senior leaders during challenging and time sensitive scenarios
  • Experience with dealing with business disruption events and managing through recovery
  • Experience in documenting and designing BCPs and Risk Assessments
  • Familiarity with common industry practices for Business Continuity and Resilience
  • Awareness of key regulatory requirements (e.g. DORA, NIS2)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Analytical and strategic problem-solving ability
  • Ideally have experience of working in fast paced and risk driven projects/environments
  • Good understanding of ever-increasing threats to Business Resilience (i.e. Cyber Resilience) Familiarity of enterprise technology and a understanding of fundamental understanding of Disaster Recovery concepts and execution (backups and recovery orchestration)
