Position Summary:

Performs analysis and reviews on borrowers that represent the largest exposure and/or most complex loans in the bank’s portfolio. Mentors less experienced Credit Analysts and Data Analysts as needed. Assists Credit Underwriting Manager with managing the workflow of the Credit Underwriting Department. Ensures requested analysis of credit information establishing the financial condition of potential and current borrowers is completed in an accurate and timely manner.  

Responsibilities:

  • Support Credit Department Manager with workflow of the Credit Underwriting department thru Loan Assignments and Pipeline Reporting
  • Advise and guide loan officers with credit underwriting methods and requirements, as needed.  
  • Perform full credit analysis and loan package presentation on complicated and high exposure loan requests.
  • Determine appropriate financial indicator covenants based on loan type and expected performance
  • Aid Credit Department Manager with reviews on loan packages of Credit Analysts’ work completed, prior to submission to loan officers.
  • Aid training efforts with respect to Data Analysts and Credit Analysts in the department, providing support and training insights when necessary. Communicate deficiencies in training or understanding/skills of Data/Credit personnel to Credit Department manager to help identify training requirements and further instruction needed. 
  • Keep current with credit underwriting trends and ensure internal reporting is updated where necessary.
  • Aid Loan Review Officer and other credit personnel in the analysis and performance summary on criticized assets of the bank as needed.
  • Perform financial analysis of current and potential vendors to help with vetting process.
  • Help develop, train, and retain the Credit Underwriting team, promoting a positive work environment and leading by example.
  • Provide support to loan officers at loan committee upon request.

Requirements

  • Prior banking experience with at least 3 years credit analysis work or related experience, required.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with reading/understanding Federal Income Tax Returns.
  • Proficient in MS Excel operations. Strong familiarity with nCino and Horizon preferred.
  • Familiar with PowerPoint, Adobe Reader, Outlook, Explorer and general office equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
