Job Description

Full-Time | Remote Role | Weekend and Evening Working Required

We’re looking for an Essex-based, HCPC-registered Dietitian or AfN-registered Nutritionist to join our growing team of Health Coaches at one of the UK’s most exciting health-tech startups.

The ideal candidate is passionate about improving health and wellbeing, has strong critical thinking skills, is self-motivated and proactive, and is confident delivering both face-to-face group sessions and digital coaching. You’ll play a key role in supporting people to achieve long-term health improvements through habit-building and evidence-based behaviour change.

About us

Obesity has become a global epidemic. In the UK alone, we spend £9 billion a year on conditions like type 2 diabetes (that's 10% of the entire NHS budget). The most shocking part? Much of this is preventable through sustainable lifestyle and habit change.

Enter Second Nature

Second Nature exists to help people take control of their health. By combining behavioural science, technology, and a talented team, our mission is to eradicate chronic lifestyle diseases for good.

Our current habit-change programme is delivered via a mobile app and offers support across five core pillars: nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and mindset. We’re proud to be one of the few digital health brands commissioned by the NHS to deliver national weight management and diabetes prevention services.

You can find out more about working with us here and here.

The Role

We’re hiring a Health Coach (Dietitian or Nutritionist) to support our newly commissioned Tier 3 NHS Specialist Weight Management Service across Mid & South Essex (MSE). This service supports adults living with obesity and coexisting conditions to make meaningful, sustainable lifestyle changes. It offers a blended model of support, combining face-to-face group delivery, remote digital coaching, and access to GLP-1 medication for eligible participants.

This is a remote role, including:

  • Face-to-Face group coaching at sites across Essex, including Saturdays and some weekday evenings
  • Remote digital coaching: daily in-app chat support, video calls, and group webinars

This is the first role of its kind at Second Nature, offering a unique opportunity to help shape how we deliver face-to-face services in a blended model. You’ll guide members through the entire care pathway, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team of dietitians, psychologists, and exercise specialists to deliver personalised, high-impact care.

What You'll do

  • Deliver face-to-face group sessions weekly during the initial 12 weeks and beyond, supporting behaviour change using CBT and motivational interviewing techniques
  • Provide daily digital coaching via chat and video, guiding participants through personal challenges, nutrition planning, goal setting, and mindset shifts
  • Support individuals across both medicated and non-medicated programmes
  • Facilitate monthly face-to-face group maintenance sessions
  • Collaborate with MDT colleagues to tailor care for each participant and ensure consistent support
  • Contribute to innovation projects, service evaluation, and ongoing programme development at Second Nature

This is a hands-on, people-first role ideal for someone who thrives in both community and digital settings. You’ll need to be highly organised, proactive, and comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get stuff done.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is HCPC-registered (Dietitian) or AfN-registered (Nutritionist)
  • Is based in or able to travel across Mid & South Essex regularly
  • Can work 40 hours per week, including Saturdays, and some evenings
  • Enjoys working across both in person and digital platforms
  • Has strong behaviour change skills (e.g. CBT, NLP, motivational interviewing)
  • Is confident leading group sessions and providing 1:1 chat support
  • Has excellent organisation, time management, and communication skills
  • Is comfortable working remotely, independently in a fast-paced, purpose-led team
  • Is proactive and contributes positively to wider business and service initiatives
  • Has experience supporting people living with obesity, type 2 diabetes, or on GLP-1 medication
  • Has previous experience supporting individuals living with type 2 diabetes, obesity, or those using GLP-1 medications
  • An exciting job at a fast-growing health-tech startup. You’ll be able to see first-hand the impact that we have on improving thousands of people’s lives and tackling the type 2 diabetes and obesity epidemic on a daily basis
  • You’ll get to work with amazing, friendly and smart colleagues, all incredibly passionate about solving the type 2 diabetes epidemic
  • Flexible working hours and autonomy over your workload to support your wellbeing
  • Quarterly company meet-ups and socials in London
  • Access to Salary Sacrifice and Cycle to Work schemes
  • £200 per year professional development budget and protected time for development-focused work
  • Annual registration fee (HCPC) covered by Second Nature
