Accounts Payable Accountant
Job Description
Overview:
SageSure is seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant. This role offers valuable growth opportunities within a dynamic company, offering exposure to insurance, its parent organization, and an affiliated managing general agency. As operations expand, the Accounts Payable Accountant will play a crucial role in providing accurate and timely processing of invoices, demonstrating a strong grasp of accounting principles. Collaborating closely with the Corporate Finance Team and other departments, the Accounts Payable Accountant will contribute to the overall financial health of the company.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of accounts payable and accounting transactions and some knowledge of financial reporting, attention to detail and the ability to deliver work products with a high level of accuracy while consistently meeting related deadlines.
What you’d be doing:
Accounting and Reporting:
- Receive, review, and verify vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receive documents.
- Enter invoice data into Concur for approval.
- Import data into the general ledger system, NetSuite.
- Prepare invoices for vendor payment process
- Match invoices to vendor contract terms
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures.
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audits.
- Conduct Accounts Payable reconciliations.
- Collaborate with team members to implement the best practices for accounts payable operations through process improvement.
- Ad hoc duties as assigned.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and accounts payable
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. NetSuite, Concur, ERP systems).
- Ability to manage strict deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Highly preferred candidates also have:
- Experience in MGA/MGU insurance operations
- Experience in Microsoft office suite with intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in NetSuite, Concur, etc.
- Experience with financial analysis and budgeting.
