POSITION SUMMARY:

The Diocese of Charlotte is seeking an Accounting Analyst for our Accounting Department in order to further the wide-ranging work of our ministries, parishes, and schools. Overall, this position will work closely with the Assistant Controller to provide financial support for 3 Diocesan Entities: 1) Central Administration - which reports administrative activities and ministries, 2) DL Catholic - which holds funds on deposit from Diocese entities & Parishes and uses these funds to invest for the benefit of the Diocese as well as provide loans as needed, and 3) Diocese Foundation - which administers funds for endowments created for educational, religious, and charitable purposes.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations for assigned entities
  • Support monthly financial statement variance reporting
  • Distribute monthly financial statements to Diocesan departments and quarterly savings reports to Parishes
  • Initiate wire transfers and ACH transactions through banking software
  • Prepare quarterly Investment Reports
  • Facilitate deposits and withdrawals for Parish savings accounts
  • Prepare Sales & Use Tax returns & refund reports
  • Assist with stock gift transactions and reporting
  • Support the annual planning process and assist with departmental reviews and templates
  • Assist with annual audit - prepare necessary reports and pull selected files
  • Maintain accounting procedures and standard work

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform similar job-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform Ad-hoc analysis and provide accounting support to Diocesan leadership

Requirements

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ related experience


Skills

  • Proficient with Excel and accounting software
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and delivering a quality work product on time.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to concisely and effectively convey results of analysis both orally and in written format.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and able to manage multiple and conflicting priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal control procedures.
