About the team + role
Robinhood’s Data Lake Ingestion team empowers informed decision-making and innovation across the company by building reliable, timely, efficient, and privacy-aware data infrastructure. Our mission is to create scalable systems that support the secure and performant flow of data to our analytics and machine learning platforms.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll work on designing and developing high-scale ingestion pipelines that process billions of events and petabytes of data daily. You'll collaborate closely with partners across Data Science, Product, and Engineering to align on data needs and design. You'll also work deeply with our Data Platform and Storage teams to build integrated solutions. Our platform leverages open-source technologies and is now powered by Delta Lake from Databricks to ensure high performance and ACID-compliant data lake operations.

What you’ll do
- Design, build, and maintain robust batch and streaming data pipelines using Delta Lake to support data-driven decision-making across Robinhood.
- Drive improvements to data quality, efficiency, and privacy in large-scale ingestion and lakehouse architectures.
- Partner with data producers and consumers to design scalable, maintainable data contracts and ingestion mechanisms.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data operations, observability, and lifecycle management.
- Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching.
What you bring
- 4+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on data infrastructure and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Go.
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and data pipeline tooling.
- Expertise in data and stream processing technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Flink), data serialization formats (e.g., Avro, Protobuf), and orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow).
- Practical experience with Delta Lake or Databricks-based systems and familiarity with its transaction and schema enforcement model.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan.
