Experienced Product Manager - Developer Experience
Job Description
We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
The Developer Experience (DevX) team at Plaid is dedicated to empowering developers to build the next generation of financial services. We own the surfaces that developers touch first. Our mission is to make it fast, easy, and delightful for developers to integrate with Plaid.
As the Product Manager on Developer Experience, you will be the voice of developers building on our platform — shaping every touchpoint from APIs and docs, SDKs and sandbox to integration tooling. You’ll lead the charge in making Plaid the best API platform for developers, whether they're solo builders or building at scale in enterprises. This is a highly cross-functional role where you collaborate with engineers, designers, developer relations, Go-to-Market, and support to create magical, frictionless developer journeys.
\n- Define vision, strategy, and roadmap for the developer experience across API onboarding, documentation, SDKs, error handling, developer tooling, sandbox, and support touch points
- Deeply understand the needs of Plaid developers through direct engagement, research, data, and collaboration with our Developer Relations team to turn developer feedback into product improvements
- Collaborate with Engineering and Design to ship intuitive, high-quality experiences that reduce time-to-first-call and increase successful integrations.
- Champion a high- quality, consistent and delightful developer experience across the entire lifecycle of Plaid’s developer experience.
- Balance qualitative feedback & intuition with quantitative success metrics to drive high-quality decisions. Own and report on success metrics like activation rate, dev NPS, time to integration, and SDK adoption.
- 8+ years of product management experience, preferably in a developer-facing or platform role.
- A strong technical foundation. You are very comfortable working closely with APIs, SDKs, and documentation.
- Experience working with or on developer platforms, API products, or technical ecosystems.
- A passion for developer experience — you care deeply about great tooling, intuitive docs, and reducing friction.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — you can clearly articulate product ideas to both engineers and executives.
- Empathy for developers and a track record of shipping lovable experiences.
- Hands-on experience building apps, even as a side project — you know what it's like to be the dev reading your docs.
- [Nice to have] Experience at a fintech, infrastructure, or API-first company.
- [Nice to have] Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, GitHub, or API client tooling.
Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
