Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

OVERVIEW

This key role will be responsible for leading the finance support for the MSNBC & CNBC Non-TV businesses (Direct to Consumer, Digital Publishing, Events, Councils, Audio, and Select).  This role will partner with senior leaders to execute the day to day priorities, lead various special projects, and be a thought partner for these high profile businesses.  This role will report to the SVP, News Finance and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the leaders and operational teams of all of the Non-TV businesses, provide analytical support to evaluate business decisions, and be engaged thought partner to help drive growth
  • Key contributor to operational forecasting & analysis, monthly & quarterly close process, and day to day financials
  • Lead monthly reporting & detailed cost trackers; own relationship with budget owners as their main point of contact
  • Collaborate with internal finance teams and cross-functional teams like Ad Sales and digital research teams to understand traffic/revenue trending and impact on financials; and operations and strategy teams on investment modeling and execution
  • Develop strong relationship with HR so able to partner on team structure
  • Partner with Events Sales and Production teams to track monthly revenues and event production cost
  • Consolidate Events and Councils P&L for month/quarter/year ends as well as estimate/budget process, perform financial variance analysis
  • Manage team of two analyst
  • Provide Ad-hoc analysis when needed

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant experience
  • 6+ years of experience in finance, accounting or related field
  • Solid financial modeling skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience leading a team of finance professionals
  • Solid communication skills with the ability to synthesize data and complex information, and present succinctly to executives and stakeholders at all levels

  • Prior operational finance experience, digital experience a plus

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
