Job Description

The Wellbeing Officer/Counsellor is responsible for creating a caring College environment which recognises the diversity of our students. They will be responsible for raising the profile of student support services across the college and increase the help-seeking behaviours and mental health awareness of students.  The Wellbeing Officer/Counsellor will be responsible for providing counselling to students on welfare matters, the development of programs and services which promote the well-being of students, liaison with academic staff, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on student support needs, referral and advocacy.

Qualifications

  • A relevant Master’s degree and/or formal counselling qualification, combined with substantial relevant work experience
  • Membership or eligibility to be a member with a Professional body eg PACFA, ACA, APAC, APS, AASW
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of student support programs for students, preferably in a tertiary environment
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to consult, counsel and liaise with a wide range people from culturally diverse backgrounds
