Data Analyst - BI and Analytics
Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst to lead the development of actionable business insights and reports. This role sits at the intersection of data, advanced analytics, business intelligence, and business strategy — ideal for someone passionate about telling stories through data, optimizing performance, and empowering teams with clear insights.
This is not a remote or hybrid role. Please note that the person in this role will be required to work in-office at our Coppell, TX location 5-days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Data Analysis & Insights – 30%
- Perform in-depth data mining and advanced analysis using SQL, Excel, Power Query, operational and syndicated data (e.g., IRI/Circana, Nielsen, Numerator).
- Identify shopper and category trends, competitive shifts, and promotional opportunities using first- and third-party data.
- Translate large datasets into insights and recommendations to support commercial decisions.
Data Reporting & Visualization (Power BI/Tableau) – 50%
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards and automated reports in Power BI or Tableau to track key metrics such as sales performance, market share, pricing, distribution, and promotional lift.
- Integrate and manage data pipelines from internal databases, Nielsen/IRI, retailer portals, and shopper data sources.
- Ensure visualization tools are up-to-date, interactive, and user-friendly for cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, product development).
- Conduct QA on dashboards, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Cross-Functional & Strategic Collaboration – 20%
- Support cross-functional business teams with data-informed presentations and category reviews.
- Partner with the Data & Insights Manager to develop executive-level insights, business cases, and customer-facing stories.
- Collaborate with retail partners through supplier portals (e.g., Scintilla, Partners Online) to validate sales and share performance metrics.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years’ experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within CPG or retail.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI or Tableau (90% of work will use one or both).
- Solid experience with SQL, Power Query, Excel (PivotTables, Lookups, basic VBA).
- Familiarity with syndicated and shopper data platforms: Nielsen/IRI, Numerator, Mintel, and retailer-specific portals.
- Experience with Python, R or other programming/scripting language will be a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical results to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage concurrent initiatives and meet deadlines.
- Bonus: Experience in category management, CPG sales analytics, or personal care/beauty categories.
