Job Description

Role Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Chief of Staff to support our Chief Business Officer (CBO), based in North America. This pivotal role will be deeply embedded with the CBO, focusing on business execution, performance management, and driving alignment across our rapidly scaling commercial operations. You will be instrumental in translating strategy into action, ensuring our business teams are set up for success and firing on all cylinders. This role demands a blend of strategic thinking, operational rigor, and a hands-on approach to tackle diverse challenges and opportunities.

If you are a militantly organized, execution-focused operator with a passion for driving business growth in fast-paced environments, and possess experience in AI, SaaS, or deep tech startups, this is a unique opportunity to significantly impact our next phase of growth.

What you'll do:

  • Support CBO & Drive Business Execution: Act as a direct extension of the CBO, leading and supporting strategic business initiatives from conception through to completion. Drive execution and performance management across all business and revenue teams.

  • Design and Maintain Operational Cadences: Establish and manage the rhythm of business for commercial teams, including sales, partnerships, and marketing, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

  • Develop and Track Business Metrics: Define, track, and analyze key business metrics and KPIs for forward-facing teams, providing actionable insights to drive performance and strategic decisions.

  • Ensure Cross-Functional Alignment: Foster seamless collaboration and alignment between go-to-market teams (sales, marketing, partnerships), product, and AI teams on execution priorities and strategic goals.

  • Cascade Strategic Goals: Translate the CBO's strategic objectives into actionable plans for business teams, ensuring clear accountability and measurable outcomes.

  • Run Business Reviews and Performance Tracking: Lead and organize regular business review meetings and performance tracking sessions to monitor progress, identify challenges, and implement corrective actions.

  • Identify and Resolve Operational Barriers: Proactively identify operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies that hinder business performance and work collaboratively to implement solutions.

  • Drive Cross-Functional Business Initiatives: Lead and manage critical cross-functional projects related to revenue growth, market expansion, customer engagement, and operational efficiency within the business organization.

  • Manage Resource Allocation: Assist the CBO in managing resource allocation across competing business priorities to maximize impact and achieve strategic objectives.

  • Develop Business Forecasts and Scenario Planning: Contribute to the development of business forecasts, financial models, and scenario planning to support strategic decision-making.

  • Translate Business Needs to Operations: Clearly articulate the operational requirements of the business teams to the COO’s team and other relevant support functions to ensure necessary infrastructure and processes are in place.

  • Support Hiring & Talent Development: Assist the CBO in structuring and building high-performing commercial teams.

What we're looking for:

  • Exceptional Career Trajectory: You may be early in an exceptional career, having attended a tier-1 school or possessing significant operating experience at tier-1 companies.

  • Strategic & Execution-Focused: You are a big-picture thinker who can also dive deep into the details and relentlessly drive execution.

  • Startup & Scaling Experience: You have a proven track record of thriving in a fast-paced startup environment, preferably in AI, SaaS, or deep tech, and understand the unique challenges and opportunities of scaling a business.

  • Excellent Communicator & Influencer: You can synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights and effectively communicate and ensure alignment across diverse stakeholders at all levels.

  • Highly Analytical & Data-Driven: You are comfortable working with data, defining and tracking KPIs, and leveraging data to make informed recommendations and drive business decisions.

  • Cross-Functional Leader: You excel at working across different functions and thrive at the intersection of strategy, business operations, and execution.

  • Organized & Results-Oriented: You are militantly organized, adept at managing multiple priorities, and committed to delivering tangible results.

  • Proactive & Problem-Solver: You are a self-starter who anticipates challenges, takes initiative, and is skilled at identifying and solving problems.

In our team, we approach our work with the dedication similar to Olympic athletes. Anticipate occasional late nights and weekends dedicated to our mission. We understand this level of commitment may not suit everyone, and we openly communicate this expectation.

If you're motivated by deeply technical problems, a seemingly never-ending uphill battle and the opportunity to build (and own) a generational technology company, we can give you what you're looking for.

All business roles at Moonvalley are hybrid positions by default, with some fully remote depending on the job scope. We meet a few times every year, usually in London, UK or North America (LA, Toronto) as a company.

If you're excited about the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technology and help shape the future of media and entertainment, we encourage you to apply. We look forward to hearing from you!
