MJ Holding is looking for a Financial Analyst!  This role will be a key member of the Finance team, providing critical financial insights and support across various areas of the business. This role will focus on enhancing financial decision-making through robust Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), in-depth Shrink and Inventory analysis, and accurate and timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other departments, playing an active role in monthly reporting, ad-hoc analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Analysis & Reporting: 

  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including trend identification, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Support the monthly close process, including analysis and explanation of results compared to prior year, plan, and forecast.
  • Prepare financial information for external auditors.

Financial Planning & Budgeting: 

  • Play a key role in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and projections.
  • Analyze capital investment requests, evaluating ROI and payback periods to support project approval.

Inventory & Shrink Management: 

  • Analyze inventory levels, identify trends, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support shrink analytics initiatives, including identifying root causes and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor warehouse inventory, including receipts, and escalate any concerns.

Treasury:

  • Assist in the monitoring of cash flow, bank reconciliations, and other treasury-related activities.
  • Assist the Director of Finance in identifying and mitigating financial risks, such as currency fluctuations, interest rate changes, and credit risk.

Operational & Financial Performance: 

  • Collaborate with various departments to understand the financial implications of their operations.
  • Support the enhancement of the weekly Operational Scorecard, aligning it with MJH's goals and financial standing.
  • Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities to improve overall financial performance.

System Implementation & Support: 

  • Support the implementation and ongoing use of the FP&A system (Vena).
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within financial systems

  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested. 

Requirements

 Competencies

  • Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Accounting/GAAP knowledge.
  • Full P&L experience a plus. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office – specifically Excel. 
  • Vena, Adaptive, or BI tool experience a plus.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, enabling effective communication with multiple departments and management levels.
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects as well as strong follow through skills.
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately critical.
  • Must be self-starter and detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to think creatively highly driven and self-motivated (curious individual that will seek analysis)
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Experience

  • 1 (one) year related experience in financial analysis, and reporting. Experience with cash management a plus.
  • Prior experience in retail, consumer product, distribution, or category management industry preferred.
  • Prior experience in working directly with cross-functional teams in analyzing inventory trends and operational costs.
