Product Category Manager Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic, cross-functional thinker with a strong marketing mindset to drive pricing and product category initiatives. This role blends product knowledge, business acumen, and customer communication to support sales effectiveness and margin performance. You’ll help solve commercial “puzzles” using data, collaborate with key departments, and design pricing structures that keep us competitive and aligned with business goals.
Product Category Manager Key Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned
- Develop and maintain strategic pricing structures across product categories
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on proposals, RFPs, and pricing strategy
- Analyze sales and product performance data to support informed decisions (not a data analyst role)
- Translate customer and sales team needs into actionable pricing and program solutions
- Track raw material and market shifts to guide price adjustments
- Communicate clearly and comprehensively with customers and internal teams about product and pricing
- Deliver insightful reports to leadership on category trends and financial performance
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Background in Marketing, not Sales
- Thinks cross-functionally and applies previous learning to new challenges
- Enjoys solving problems and identifying patterns in commercial data
- Strong communicator—clear, structured, and comfortable talking with both internal and external stakeholders
- A generalist with curiosity—someone who knows a little about a lot, and uses that range to connect the dots
- Proficient in Excel for analysis and reporting (does not need to be an advanced expert)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field
- 4–7 years in category management, commercial strategy, pricing, or product marketing
- Experience in pricing models or customer proposals
- Comfortable using ERP systems and tools like Power BI or Tableau
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong business acumen with an emphasis on actionable insight—not just raw data gathering
