Project Accounting Analyst (REMOTE)
Job Description
Michael Baker International is seeking a Project Accounting Analyst to work closely with the Director of Project Accounting in supporting enterprise-wide project oversight through strategic reporting, data analysis, and process improvement. This remote position plays a critical role in ensuring that projects across the organization align with financial and operational goals, while also contributing to high-visibility project reviews and the development of tools and training that enhance execution and performance. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment, with a passion for using data to drive decision-making.
This role is responsible for developing and maintaining reporting tools that monitor project health, preparing data for Periodic Performance Reporting (PPR), and supporting detailed reviews of high-visibility projects through weekly reports and biweekly meetings. The Project Accounting Analyst will also assist in the development and implementation of new processes and initiatives aimed at improving project execution and financial performance. In addition, this individual will create new reporting solutions to support the project accounting team and partner with operations to design and deliver training programs that enhance financial literacy and project management capabilities across the organization.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise-level project performance reports and dashboards to ensure alignment with financial and operational expectations.
- Conducts detailed data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across the organization’s project portfolio and elevate to executive leadership.
- Supports weekly and biweekly performance reviews for marquee projects by preparing financial summaries, risk assessments, and actionable insights.
- Leads the preparation and delivery of data for Periodic Performance Reporting (PPR), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assists in the design and implementation of new processes and initiatives aimed at improving project accounting and reporting efficiency.
- Creates and refines custom reports and tools to support project accountants and leadership in decision-making.
- Collaborates with operations and finance teams to develop and deliver training programs that enhance project financial management and reporting capabilities.
- Partners with the ERP team to test, implement, and optimize reporting tools and system enhancements.
- Serves as a key resource for special projects and strategic initiatives led by the Director of Project Accounting.
- Provides direct support to the Director of Project Accounting on ad hoc requests, special analyses, and time-sensitive initiatives.
- Engages with Office Executives and other senior leaders to communicate project performance updates, resolve outstanding tasks, and support strategic decision-making.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or Finance.
- 5-7 years of experience within accounting, finance, or similar role.
- Masters in Accounting or Finance, CPA, CMA, or other professional certification preferred.
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills including strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with Project Managers, Department Managers, Office Executives and other senior leaders.
- Required advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Preferred experience with Oracle Project Accounting Modules-Advanced Level (or equivalent ERP system).

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $77,000 - $89,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
