THE POSITION

We’re hiring a Corporate Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team. This position is designed for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives on accuracy, structure, and continuous improvement. You’ll contribute to critical functions such as journal entries, reconciliations, internal reporting, and tax compliance, ensuring our financial data is reliable, timely, and audit-ready.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, you’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other internal teams to ensure transactional accuracy and resolve discrepancies. You’ll also help maintain compliance with IFRS, support the development of internal controls, and drive improvements to core financial processes.

If you’re a detail-oriented, analytical accounting professional looking to apply your expertise in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

YOUR IMPACT
  • Prepare and record accounting transactions and perform account reconciliations as part of the month-end close, ensuring revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, and equity are accurately captured in compliance with IFRS, supporting the full accounting cycle.
  • Work in close partnership with the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions to ensure the accurate and timely recording of transactions in compliance with IFRS and alignment with signed agreements; conduct thorough reviews, approve transactions, and provide oversight and coverage as necessary.
  • Support daily cash management activities, including optimizing accounts receivable collections and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable disbursements, while upholding strong liquidity management and working capital discipline.
  • Prepare internal financial reporting and variance analyses to ensure accurate reporting of Maple’s financial position.
  • Contribute to audit and tax readiness and support ongoing audit processes by maintaining comprehensive documentation and ensuring adherence to IFRS standards.
  • Support corporate tax reporting and filing requirements in collaboration with external advisors.
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing internal controls to support financial accuracy and reduce risk.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline accounting workflows through system enhancements and process automation.
  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to enhance financial visibility and  support informed decision-making

12 – 18 MONTH DELIVERABLES

In your first 90 days, you’ll focus on learning Maple’s business operations, financial systems, and accounting workflows. You’ll become familiar with the chart of accounts and core reporting tools, and begin preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal financial reports. You’ll partner closely with the Finance team to ensure accuracy in AR and AP records, and you’ll start identifying early opportunities to improve workflow efficiency.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, you’ll take full ownership of recurring accounting tasks, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset management, and core reporting. You’ll demonstrate your ability to manage complex transaction scenarios independently and deliver timely and accurate financial data. You’ll also contribute to audit and tax preparation and collaborate across teams to improve operations, reporting, and internal controls.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation ( or in progress) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in IFRS and corporate tax fundamentals
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and managing multiple deadlines
  • Familiarity with tax reporting and filing requirements.
