SVP, Enterprise Developer Experience and API Modernization
Job Description
LPL Financial Technology is looking for a leader and technologist-at-heart to lead Enterprise Developer Experience and API Modernization as part of our broader Platform Modernization strategy.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Technology organization as SVP, Enterprise Developer Experience and API Modernization. In this role, you will be responsible for Developer Experience, DevSecOps, API Modernization, shared framework product development and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Developer Experience spanning DevSecOps, Release Engineering, and tooling, including AI-enabled technology, that transforms our SDLC / PDLC and enables our developers to thrive – unlocking innovation and velocity.
- Lead API Modernization development for LPL spanning the API Management stack, including Gateway, Mesh, Repository, and API delivery that enables deprecation of legacy stacks.
- Lead shared library and SDK development that enables quick, consistent integration of common technical capabilities, such as logging, auth, session management, and other foundational items.
- Drive adoption of these capabilities and ensure legacy stacks are fully retired.
- Champion and incorporate into this scope a strong vision for AI-enabled platforms and tooling along with our Cloud-first, API-first, and Event-Driven architecture strategy and principles.
- Develop strategy, roadmaps, and metrics that communicate and enable transparency into the vision and progress.
- Establish feedback loops that ensure continuous improvement and prioritization of the highest value customer needs.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of high-performing outcome-oriented engineers, including onshore, nearshore, and offshore personnel.
- Maniacal focus on both functional and non-functional quality of all developed products – delighting customers with always-on, high performing experiences that can scale with the company’s growth.
- Responsible for financial planning/allocation and staffing decisions with focus on efficiency and investment efficacy.
- Promote the vision and drive organizational transformation through establishing/maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including business, product, engineering, operations and management.
- Collaborate across the firm to maintain alignment on vision, strategy, and performance to goals, approaching strategy with an entrepreneurial mindset, leveraging critical thinking to increase the value proposition of assigned products and programs.
Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience in technology leadership roles that span architecture and product development preferably within a financial service or related FinTech firm.
- 7+ years of developing, cultivating, and leading strong, high-performing teams.
- 5+ years in Developer Experience and DevSecOps roles.
- 5+ years in product development involving API and/or event streaming and integration technologies.
- 5+ years delivering and operating in an Agile model where dependency management and priority trade-off conversations are key to successful execution.
- 2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies and architecture.
- Ability to create a strategy and execute on a roadmap that delivers to the strategy.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to create/present executive presentations and serve as one of the recognized subject matter experts in the organization.
- Demonstrate business acumen and the ability to interact with senior leaders, including developing, presenting, and gaining approval on business cases and funding requests.
- Flexibility and organizational change management experience.
- The ability to work in a cross-functional team and drive outcomes without having direct authority.
- Actively anticipates, identifies, and manages risks within position scope and at the company.
- Expert consensus-builder who drives change across initiatives within and outside direct accountability and evaluates solutions to the most complex business challenges.

- Adept at seeing the big picture; a top-down thinker with the strategic agility to go both broad and deep depending on the problem at hand and the audience
