Job Description

About Lightfield

Lightfield is a next-generation CRM that automatically captures customer interactions like emails, meetings, and support tickets and organizes them into structured CRM data, enabling deep analysis of customer activity and powerful automation.

Unlike traditional CRMs, Lightfield continuously learns from how you sell and who you sell to, directly from the words of customers and actual workflows in the system. With this data, Lightfield proactively manages customer tasks, automates personalized customer communication, and delivers the visibility and insights needed for teams to continually refine their go-to-market strategy.

The company is initially focused on becoming the first comprehensive system of record and go-to-market platform for high-growth technology companies. With a flexible and scalable model for data capture and organization, Lightfield is designed to be the last CRM and GTM-automation tool our companies will ever need.

Our team previously built Tome, a generative AI presentation product used by over 25 million people. Through that experience, we’ve developed a taste for building companies where we deeply understand customers, keep organizations as flat as possible, hire leaders who embrace getting into the details of work, and hold up the bar for quality and resilience. Before Tome, many of us worked on Llama, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Pinterest, and SpaceX.

About The Role

You’ll be Lightfield’s first business hire, report directly to the CEO, and be a thought partner to the founders on everything. Your success and the company’s success are inextricably coupled. This means you’ll start programs at the company like finance and recruiting, you’ll build models and conduct research to help the company form opinions on hard problems, and you’ll help shape and execute company wide plans (eg. GTM, fundraising, partnerships). You’ll work with the CEO daily to prioritize working on the most important business and operations problems at any given time.

The ideal person here can go broad (eg. come up with a plan for us to saturate seed stage B2B start ups in the next year) but can also go deep (eg. run an evaluation of data enrichment providers and choose a partner). The ideal candidate for this role thrives in bringing order to chaos, has an inherent curiosity about building a high growth and enduring company, and can navigate the ambiguity of a company with a deeply-loved early product that needs to build a business around it.

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll start programs and initiatives, take them from 0 to 1, and then hire experts to take them over once they’re working (eg. finance, recruiting, marketing, sales, HR)

  • You’ll use every resource available to help the team form opinions on important topics (e.g. pricing strategy, headcount, what to buy vs. build)

  • You’ll proactively identify, prioritize, and act on problems that emerge at the company

  • You’ll partner with the founders on fundraising, partnerships, and more when appropriate

Who You Are

  • You studied STEM in college and have a couple of years of experience from investment banking, consulting, private equity, or venture.

  • You’re excited about working hard to build a generational company and grow with it.

  • You shouldn’t be afraid of building models in Excel, writing SQL queries, or writing a bit of code to solve problems.

  • You enjoy working through people and with people. You don’t covet structural authority or islands in a start up environment.

  • You can quickly ramp up on new subject matter by being resourceful and scrappy.
