Job Description
Position Overview
The Summer Project Employee is a support position that reports to a KIPP NYC Tech Director and provides daily support to KIPP NYC schools. As a Technology intern, you will take direction from the designated lead IT Associate as well as other Tech project leads. This intern will be responsible for resolving end-user technical support requests related to laptops and chromebooks. The KIPP NYC Technology team prides itself on delivering a high level of customer service, working collaboratively to solve problems, and engaging in professional development opportunities.
This internship will be termed from 6-10 weeks from their start date, with an ASAP start date.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the designated lead IT Associate on site according to the planned end and start of year Tech Support
- Work directly with the IT Associates and Tech Team staff to learn and execute best steps toward resolving tech support issues related to staff and student computing on the following systems:
- Windows
- ChromeOS
- Network connectivity
- User accounts and authentication
- Basic application support
- Printing/Scanning
- Hardware Maintenance (PC, laptop, Document Cameras, projectors)
- Basic understanding of Email and Web
- Basic understanding of Phones (desk and classroom phones)
- Classroom setup (HDMI Cables, Document Cameras, etc…)
- Maintains accurate time spent, notes, and other documentation regarding the tasks assigned
- Possible travel to school sites per week to complete support work, interact with staff, and perform routine maintenance.
- Schedule courier service, shipping, and equipment delivery as needed
- Perform physical inventory of tech equipment at school and office sites as needed
- Assists with on various projects such as school year transition work, school start up, and staff Professional Development assistance
- May be required to move equipment/boxes/etc from one location to another
Qualifications
- Be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma required. Current college/graduate students are encouraged to apply.
- A passion for the mission of KIPP NYC and commitment to being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven organizational culture, with an interest in raising the achievement level of historically underserved children
- Familiarity with hands-on computer hardware repair, preferred
- Ability to safely lift and move items weighing up to 10-30 lbs on a regular basis
- Proven record of excellence and skill in providing support for end user technology needs (Friends and Family, etc…)
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with various stakeholders
Additional Information
This is a hourly position for 6-10 weeks during Summer 2025. Compensation for this position is $17-21/hour.

This role is based in NYC and will require travel to our schools. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC. You must notify HR if you move or have plans to relocate.
