Salary range: £75,000 to £85,000 per annum

Location: Any FNC office

Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

We are looking for an experienced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Principal/Managing Consultant to provide technical leadership and expert consultancy in MBSE methodologies, best practices, and technical solutions.

You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring their engineering challenges are met with robust, innovative solutions, while maintaining a commercially informed approach to project delivery and strategy development. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and business awareness to support both project success and long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership, guiding clients in MBSE best practices and methodologies.

  • Deliver expert consultancy on systems engineering challenges, digital modelling, and solution architecture.

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, define problems, and shape solutions that align with business and operational objectives.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring long-term collaboration and strategic advisory support.

  • Support bids and proposals by providing technically credible, commercially viable solutions.

  • Lead systems lifecycle management, overseeing key processes such as requirements engineering, verification & validation, and system integration.

  • Facilitate workshops and technical discussions, ensuring alignment between engineering teams and business objectives.

  • Balance technical innovation with commercial strategy, ensuring solutions are cost-effective, scalable, and deliver competitive advantage.

  • Contribute to thought leadership in MBSE, authoring technical reports and sharing best practices across projects.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • A degree in Electronics, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

  • Background in Defence with a focus on Marine or Land Environments

  • Strong expertise in MBSE principles, tools, and systems engineering frameworks (ISO 15288).

  • Proven experience providing technical consultancy to clients, influencing engineering decisions and best practices.

  • Deep understanding of systems architecture, system integration, and lifecycle management.

  • Ability to engage and manage stakeholders, effectively translating technical complexity into actionable solutions.

  • Experience supporting bids and proposals with technically sound, commercially viable approaches.

  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a strategic mindset towards both engineering and business development.

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Background and understanding of Systems Engineering in Submarine Systems

  • Strong awareness of emerging technologies and innovation strategies within systems engineering.

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
